PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to sufficiently disinfect a contact lens.SOLUTION: An apparatus for disinfecting the contact lens includes: a processing tank 35 for storing a first medium and provided with a vibration transmitting part on the bottom part; a lens case 11 arranged so as to attachable/detachable to the processing tank 35 and to be able to place on the vibration transmitting part, and for storing the contact lens 13 and a second medium; an ultrasonic wave vibrator 22 for generating an ultrasonic vibration and transmitting it to the vibration transmitting part; and an ultrasonic wave vibrator driving and processing means for driving the ultrasonic wave vibrator 22 and forming hydroxyl radicals in the second medium. As the ultrasonic wave vibrator 22 is driven and the hydroxyl radicals are formed in the second medium, it is possible to sufficiently disinfect the contact lens 13. As the contact lens 13 can be disinfected in an extremely short time and after the disinfection is finished, it is unnecessary to neutralize the processed liquid to thereby simplify the work for disinfection.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to save the cost for purchasing special medicines in a large amt. as the need for exchange is eliminated over the entire part of a maintenance process and to avert the danger and sequela of the ill use of the chemical medicines by using a physiological salt soln. as a catalyst sol vent for washing, disaffection and preservation. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic horn 32 is installed on the bottom wall of a washing tank 3 exhibiting a closed state at its bottom and ultrasonic energy is emitted upward to meet the position where a contact lens 9 is mounted. The contaminated contact lens 9 is first washed by one ultrasonic unit by using the physiological salt soln. as the catalyst soln. 8 over the entire process. A high temp. is thereafter generated in the catalyst soln. 8 by further one heating unit 6 and the lens 9 after cleaning in such a manner is subjected to disinfection and sterilization. The lens 9 is then preserved by the soln. 8 used from the beginning. In such a case, the need for exchanging the physiological salt soln. is eliminated from the start to the completion of the maintenance process over the entire part.

PURPOSE: To provide a method rapid and inexpensive as compared with a conventional method in a hydration method removing a leachable substance from a polymerized contact lens blank to replace the same with water. CONSTITUTION: A lens material 10 is confined within a cavity 55 formed by support elements 18, 46. A fresh fluid is introduced into the cavity 55 through either one of or both of circular holes 38, 62 and, by obstructing the flow passing through the circular holes 38, 62, the fluid is left in the cavity 55 to perform hydration/washing/extraction. Thereafter, the new fluid enters the cavity 55 to discharge the old fluid from an opening 24. COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO

PURPOSE: To reduce the consumption of preserving liquid by providing a boiling electric power control means which saves heater part supply electric power after the starting point of boiling within a boiling state maintaining range when a boiling process is performed. CONSTITUTION: A cleaning chamber 1 whose upper end surface is open is provided on the upper part of a body 100 and a stirring part 2 is provided below the cleaning chamber 1. A rod type heater part 3 and a water level sensor 20 are inverted and provided on the peripheral edge bottom part of the cleaning chamber 1 and a thermal switch is provided on the side wall of the cleaning chamber 1. A feeding water valve 4, a drain valve 5, and an atmosphere releasing value 6 which consist of solenoid valves respectively, and a control part are stored in a body 100 and a console panel part is protruded on the lower front surface side of the body 100. In the boiling process, the boiling electric power control means saves the heater part supply electric power after the starting point of the boiling within the boiling state maintaining range. Consequently, the vaporization quantity of the preserving liquid after the starting point of the boiling is reduced and the consumption of the preserving liquid is decreased. PURPOSE: To make it possible to completely clean an air permeable lens without being damaged by electrifying the lens having the surface covered with a transmission medium member consisting of a flexible member to pass easily electric current when containing water content and cleaning the lens with an electrodynamic phenomenon. CONSTITUTION: A transmission medium member arranges lenses between the terminals without damaging the surface or body of the lens and consists of objects for transmitting electric charge in the inclusion of water content to collect electric current like the forcusing lens. The transmission medium members 50, 51 do not come into contact with each other and a liquid layer does not come into contact with the transmission medium member, so that the electric current passes through the lens without leaking in the periphery of the lens. By collecting the electric current to pass the current through the lens, polluted objects such as inorganic objects, organic objects or creatures migrate and separate from the surface and inside of the lens in a short time and the pollutants removed from the lens are deposited on the transmission medium members 50, 51, so that the air permeable lens is washed and disinfected.
