161 Corrective eyewear attachment and method US09542186 2000-04-04 US06290354B1 2001-09-18 Gordon H. Safran
Non-corrective eyewear such as sunglasses, skiing goggles and diving masks can be easily and economically made to correct eyesight with a corrective eyewear attachment that is aesthetically pleasing. The attachment may include a corrective nose piece connector and/or a rotatable lens. The rotatable lens makes it more economical to have prefabricated corrective lenses that requires a particular lens orientation such as when the corrective lens corrects for an astigmatism.
162 Eye goggles with laterally adjustable eyepieces within goggles frame US262609 1994-06-20 US5628072A 1997-05-13 Joseph Haslbeck; Peter Huopalainen
A pair of goggles comprises a goggles frame with a pair of eyepiece holders, a nosepiece extending between inner end portions of the eyepiece holders, and a head strap extending between outer end portions of the eyepiece holders. Each eyepiece holder has an opening with an eyepiece unit fitted therein, the eyepiece unit having an overall length less than length of the eyepiece opening to permit relative movement therebetween to vary interocular spacing between the eyepieces to accommodate persons having eyes at different spaces. Guides are provided at outer end portions and intermediate portions of the eyepiece units and eyepiece holders to ensure axial movement of the eyepiece units with respect to the eyepiece holder with negligible rotation therebetween. A locator is provided to limit relative movement between the eyepiece holder and eyepiece unit. The locator can be fitted between adjacent outer end portions of the eyepiece holder and eyepiece unit to prevent movement of the eyepiece unit relative to the eyepiece opening.
163 Compact eyeglass construction US140300 1987-12-31 US4840476A 1989-06-20 Craig E. Rooney
Reading glasses are specially constructed to permit them to assume a compact storage condition when not in use. Lightweight half lenses are pivoted to the lower ends of an arched nose bridge which functions as a spring to provide the sole force necessary to maintain the eyeglasses on the nose. The lenses may pivot about pivot pins on the nose bridge through pivot arcs of 90.degree. between the wearing and storage positions. The lenses occupy a common plane in all positions. Notches in the lens edges receive the legs of the nose piece to provide a detent for retaining the lenses in the wearing position.
164 Sunglasses US772444 1985-09-04 US4610036A 1986-09-09 Brian B. LaPrairie
A pair of plastic glasses including an injection molded one-piece integral lens and temple piece having a lens portion with two lenses and a narrow bridge, and a pair of temple portions at the ends of the lens portion. Vertical hourglass hinges join the temple and lens portions. These portions are formed of essentially uniform thickness optically clear plastic without knit lines. Two earpieces are adjustably mounted on the temple portions.
