3 Remote indicating liquid level sensor US167766 1993-12-15 US5410913A 1995-05-02 David A. Blackburn
For liquid-level sensing in a tank, the invention provides a tank-mounted first subassembly that is adapted for suspension of a vertical guide from the top of the tank, such that a guided float may coact with an elongate vertical ribbon, to angularly displace a magnetic element carried by the upper end of the ribbon. The tank-mounting of this first subassembly completes closure of the tank and its contents, and closure structure of this first subassembly assures containment of the ribbon and its magnetic element within the closed volume of the tank. A second subassembly of magnetically responsive electrical means is encapsulated by a housing which is detachably connectable to the closure structure of the first assembly, solely by access that is external to the closed tank. Electrical output of the second subassembly is flexibly available to remote indicating and/or monitoring circuitry which forms no part of the invention.

The fuel cap includes a detection mechanism for sensing a level of fuel within the tank. The fuel cap further includes an assembly component engageable with the outer shell to support the detection mechanism on the outer shell. The assembly component defines a groove operable to receive the protrusion. Additionally, the assembly component includes a component locking member. The outer shell and the assembly component are engageable with one another by a relative axial movement followed by a relative rotational movement about an axis. Once engaged, the outer shell and the assembly component are fixed against disengagement by engagement of the shell locking member and the component locking member.
7 Spiral gauge with integral support tube US804930 1991-12-11 US5148709A 1992-09-22 Herbert G. Ross, Jr.
A gauge (10) is disclosed which provides advantages in accuracy and cost. A head (16) is mounted on a reservoir containing a fluid to be monitored. A cylindrical support tube (28) is secured to the head and extends into the fluid. A head bushing (40) and a bottom bushing (42) are secured at opposite ends of the tube (28) and support a helically twisted center shaft (48) for rotation about an axis. The center shaft passes through a float (60) which is guided for movement along the axis by guide ribs (34, 36) on the support tube.

PURPOSE:To facilitate reading, by providing a float which follows the change in the surface of a liquid in a tank, and a pointer, wherein torsion is applied to a vertical plane and which performs a twisting movement by the change in the liquid surface. CONSTITUTION:A float B forms a unitary body together with a float guide plate 25. A float guide 26 has a guide plane in the vertical direction and is engaged with the groove part of the float guide plate 25. The rotation in the horizontal plane of the float B is prevented, but the float is guided and readily moved up and down. A bearing plate 27 is attached to the upper side of the float guide 26 and a bearing plate 28 is attached to the lower side. A twisted member 29 comprises a strip shaped plate, which has a rectangular cross section with a width W, a thickness T and to which twisting is applied. A rectangular hole (f), which is slightly larger than the size of the cross section of the twisted member 29, is provided in the horizontal surface of the float guide plate 25 which forms the unitary body with the float B. The twisted member 29 is engaged with the hole (f). The up and down movement of the float B, which follows the change in the liquid surface, is converted into rotary movement. An upper shaft 12 and a pointer 11 of a display part A are rotated by the magnetic coupling of magnets 18 and 19. Thus the change in the liquid surface is displayed.

12 Drip filter coffee maker US13415822 2012-03-08 US09032866B2 2015-05-19 Gerard Andrew White; Daniel Serra
Disclosed in this specification is a drip filter coffee maker that includes features to improve the taste of the brewed coffee and to enhance to ease of use. In one embodiment, an integral plate burr grinder sends coffee ground down a coffee chute that feeds the filter cone. A chute door at the end of the coffee chute prevents vapors or condensation from entering the coffee chute. In another embodiment, the eject tray that carries the filter cone may be coupled with a dampened spring biasing mechanism which moderates the eject motion. Further, a pivot float may be provided within the carafe so that the user may read the carafe fill level easily.

16 Float activated gauge US408832 1989-09-18 US4970896A 1990-11-20 Robert M. Larson; James E. Blomquist
A float activated gauge includes a float, a frame for guiding the vertical movement of the float, and a twisted metal strip coacting with the float to provide a visual indication of the vertical position of the float. The frame is held in position by an easily assembled head comprising a ring body and a cap. The frame comprises two vertical rods, each of which terminates on its upper end in an outwardly extending stub. When assembled, the rods and stubs of the frame are sandwiched between the cap and the ring body, so that assembly of the gauge does not require bending or deforming of the frame.
17 Resistor-operated tubular rotary level indicator of float-type EP92201524.3 1992-05-29 EP0516242A3 1993-08-04 Bianco, Giovanni

An apparatus is proposed for indicating the level of fuel or other liquid contained in a tank. The apparatus consists of a cylindrical casing closed at its two ends by two suitably shaped disc-like covers, and internally comprising two guides on which there slides a float provided with a slot within which there is engaged a rod having its ends connected to a rotary moving element which comprises on its top a contact which slides along a resistor installed on the upper disc-like cover of the cylindrical casing. As the height of the float varies within the cylindrical casing, which is suitably holed to allow the liquid to enter or leave, the position of contact along the resistor varies with corresponding variation in the electrical signal measured at its output.
