PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-defense instrument easy to operate and having excellent portability.
SOLUTION: The self-defense instrument has: a cylindrical container 1 closed at one end; a bag-like member 6 disposed in the container 1 and filled with liquid 7 against ruffians; ejection means 9-11 provided at one end of the cylindrical container 1 and having powder or the like; and a rupture means 3 provided at the other end of the cylindrical container 1, pointing its sharp tip part inward to rupture the bag-like member 6. Sufficient ejection pressure is generated even with a small amount of powder, but the container filled with the liquid against a ruffian requires strength enough to withstand an explosion, and in view of the case where the liquid against ruffians cannot be applied to the ruffian as it is, the rupture means for rupturing the bag-like member when passing through is newly provided to positively jet the internal liquid even if adopting a member with sufficient strength as the container filled with the liquid against a ruffian. As a result, stability in storage and at the explosion of powder is improved with the bag-like member with high strength, and the liquid against the ruffian is positively applied to the ruffian.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

An explosive pellet for characterizing a fracture in a subterranean formation is provided. The pellet can include a casing having a detonation material and an explosive material disposed within the casing. The pellet can also include a nonexplosive material moveably disposed within the casing. Movement of the nonexplosive material can generate a predetermined amount of energy in the form of friction-generated heat sufficient to detonate the explosive material.

13 Weatherproof safety fuse igniter US167718 1988-03-14 US4846067A 1989-07-11 Brian D. Martin
A disposable weather-proof safety fuse igniter is provided which includes a hollow cylindrical housing having an internally spaced sleeve provided for mounting and positioning a pull-wire type friction igniter cup. The end of the pull-wire is attached to a vent plug positioned at one end of the housing which, in turn, is attached to a finger-grip device for extracting the vent plug and pull-wire for ignition. A threaded cap is provided to cover and seal the vent plug end of the housing. The opposite end of the housing includes a compression type sealing retainer which has an internal bore for insertion of the safety fuse. A double O-ring seal can be positioned within the housing with the retainer arranged so that rotation of the cap causes the O-ring seal to be compressed against the inserted fuse. Internally arranged ferrules are provided within the internal sleeve for properly positioning the end of the inserted fuse, retaining the fuse in proper position for use, and channeling the flame from the primer upon ignition to light the end of the safety fuse. A metering aperture in the sleeve and a passageway through the housing allows the exhaust gases to be accurately vented. A shipping plug is provided for insertion into the end of the sealing retainer to render the device weather-proof during shipping and storage.
14 High altitude friction igniter US507038 1974-09-18 US3942445A 1976-03-09 Charles Baker; Benjamin F. Harkness; Alfred W. Norris
A friction igniter assembly for high altitude operation having a pull wireoated with a scratch sensitive composition which is moved through a chlorate composition. The scratch sensitive composition containing red phosphorus reacts with the chlorate to provide a flash which transfers ignition to an adjacent boron-lead dioxide composition. The boron-lead dioxide composition is the main igniting charge and provides an intense output of heat in a very short time for igniting a pyrotechnic composition.
