1 Manually cycled pistol US851114 1977-11-14 US4155187A 1979-05-22 Philip R. Lichtman
A pistol design is provided which makes it possible to make a small sized pistol for firing relatively large size cartridges, e.g., a .45 pistol. The pistol is manually cycled for reloading and is characterized by a barrel which must be moved forward to remove a spent case and backward to chamber a new cartridge, and novel means for (a) firing the weapon, (b) preventing accidental discharge of the weapon, and (c) preventing forward movement of the barrel when the trigger is pulled.
2 Firearm Having Slide With Cam US15171243 2016-06-02 US20160273860A1 2016-09-22 Brett Curry
A barrel for a semiautomatic firearm operating under the short recoil system has one or more cam followers projecting outwardly to engage one or more cams positioned on an inner surface of a slide surrounding the barrel. Interaction between the cams and the cam followers controls the angle between the longitudinal axis of the barrel and the axis of motion of the slide to prevent the breech end of the barrel from moving too far as the barrel tilts as it unlocks from the slide, ensuring that the extractor will engage the rim of a spent casing and extract it from the chamber during recoil.

In weapon shot is fired during counterrecoil. The counterrecoil energy damps the recoil energy. During recoil, the breech block is unlocked, the spent cartridge case is ejected from the barrel by the residual pressure of the powder gases and is directed by a deflector into a hole in the gun carriage. When recoiling into the aftmost position, the barrel approaches the projectile and locks it by means of the breech block. Meanwhile, the next cartridge is taken from a magazine. In the event of misfire, the barrel, continuing to counterrecoil, actuates an extractor for removing the defective projectile. A recoil imitator returns the barrel to the aftmost position, where it is loaded with a projectile in a manner similar to the post-firing recoil. The technical result is ability to load the weapon automatically before firing or to reload the weapon automatically in the event of misfire.
5 Pump firearm having a forwardly moving barrel US786083 1991-10-31 US5235769A 1993-08-17 Heyns W. Stead; Anthony S. Neophytou
A pump action firearm includes a barrel and a chassis defining a magazine well for receiving a magazine. The magazine well extends longitudinally parallel to the barrel and contains a plurality of cartridges arranged in stacked relationship with each cartridge having its longitudinal axis extending substantially transversely to a longitudinal axis of the barrel. A pump member displaces the barrel forwardly and rearwardly. A carrier mechanism is linked to the pump member and, during pumping of the pump member, moves an end cartridge contained in the magazine from its stacked position to an operative position in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the barrel.

11 Semi-automatic handgun US09771246 2001-01-26 US06405631B1 2002-06-18 Robert C. Milek
A semi-automatic handgun is disclosed including a frame having a barrel housing mounted thereon. A barrel is movably mounted on the barrel housing and has a cartridge chamber at its rearward end for receiving a cartridge therein. The barrel is movable between a rearward position and a forward position with respect to the barrel housing and is normally in its rearward position. The barrel moves forwardly in a straight line from its rearward position upon firing of the cartridge in the chamber to counteract the rearward energy of discharge, thereby reducing recoil. The handgun may be fired in either a single action or double action manner. The firing hammer of the handgun is re-cocked, upon firing of the cartridge, by means of a movable piston having a firing pin positioned therein with the firing pin engaging the hammer to move the hammer to its re-cocked position.
12 Explosive diving tool apparatus with improved extractor US253543 1988-10-05 US4883213A 1989-11-28 Roland Almeras
An explosive tool driving apparatus is provided having an improved extractor mounted upon its barrel holder, and the claw of which is meant to retain the case of a propulsive charge during opening of the apparatus. A groove for passage of the claw of the extractor is formed within the barrel of the apparatus. In the firing position, the claw is disposed in front of an abutment shoulder for the collar of the case, so as to provide an initial axial clearance, the extractor is freely movable in translation between two axial stops and, during opening, is moved forwardly by the means of collar of the case the improvement thereby avoiding the hard point during opening of the apparatus

A pump action firearm includes a barrel (12) and a chassis (14, 94) defining a magazine well (28) for receiving a magazine (30). The magazine well extends longitudinally parallel to the barrel and contains a plurality of cartridges (32) arranged in stacked relationship with each cartridge having its longitudinal axis extending substantially transversely to a longitudinal axis of the barrel. A pump member (16) displaces the barrel forwardly and rearwardly. A carrier mechanism (44, 46, 106, 108) is linked to the pump member and, during pumping of the pump member, moves an end cartridge contained in the magazine from its stacked position to an operative position in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the barrel.

20 DYNAMIC FIREARM PCT/RU2009000656 2009-11-27 WO2010041985A3 2010-06-24 DONETSKY YURIJ IGOREVICH
The invention can be used as an artillery weapon or a small arms weapon. A barrel (1) with a breech block (2) is held at maximum recoil by a counterrecoil check (3) actuated by an antirecoil mechanism (4). When a shot is fired, the check (3) releases the barrel (1). During counterrecoil, the projectile for the next shot is moved into a projectile holder (31) and a firing mechanism (38) strikes a firing pin (40). Once a shot has been fired, the counterrecoil energy damps the recoil energy. Meanwhile, the next cartridge is taken from a magazine (28). In the event of misfire, the barrel, continuing to counterrecoil, actuates an extractor (42) for removing the defective projectile. A recoil imitator (4) returns the barrel to the aftmost position, where it is loaded with a projectile in a manner similar to the post-firing recoil. The technical result is that of increasing the efficiency of recoil energy absorption and gun oscillation damping and making it possible to load the weapon automatically before firing or to reload the weapon automatically in the event of misfire.
