The biasing member (14) comprises a body (40) having a first portion (43) configured to engage and seat within a biasing member receiving indentation (33) of an arm (30) of the extractor (6), and a second portion (45) configured to engage and seat within a receiving area (33) along a bolt (4) of the firearm (F). The body (40) provides a biasing force directed against the extractor arm (30). The body (40) comprises an elastomeric material, and is configured such that the first (43) and second portions (45) provide varying levels of compression sufficient to maintain a substantially constant extractor tension between the extractor arm (30) and a cartridge.
42 FIREARM BARREL HAVING CARTRIDGE CHAMBER PREPARATION FACILITATING EFFICIENT CARTRIDGE CASE EXTRACTION AND PROTECTION AGAINST PREMATURE BOLT FAILURE EP13829342.8 2013-06-25 EP2867606A2 2015-05-06 Larue, Mark, C
To permit ease and efficiency for the extraction of spent cartridge cases from the cartridge chamber of a firearm barrel within a wide range of temperature conditions, the internal tapered surface of the body region of a cartridge chamber is prepared by establishing circumferentially spaced longitudinal straight or curved regions of the internal surface finish to create an internal cartridge chamber geometry having gradually tapered spaced longitudinally relieved linear or spiral areas having longitudinal linear or spiral lands between each of the relieved areas. The circumferentially spaced lands develop controlled impedance to rearward cartridge case movement on cartridge firing to effectively protect the bolt and extractor mechanisms of the firearm against early failure.

A locking and recocking assembly with swivel breech-lock and rotating locking head particularly designed for inertially-actuated weapons, which combines in a single assembly all the functions for locking, opening, case ejection and recocking with locking return, required for correct operation of the weapon; those functions were, until now assigned to various components variously assembled on the weapon. The locking and recocking assembly with swivel breech-lock and rotating locking head has the entire mass, required for inertial operation, concentrated in the swivel breech-lock, which is accommodated completely within the supporting structure of the weapon, such as the sheath or barrel extension or breech of the weapon. All this leads to better balancing and stability of the weapon, higher reliability in operation, greater constructive simplicity and ease of assembly and disassembly.

52 MACHINE-PISTOL FOR CARTRIDGES OF DIFFERENT TYPES EP87902462.8 1987-02-24 EP0258431B1 1991-08-14 MARZOCCO, Alessandro
The machine-pistol with an obturator (12) which extends longitudinally, so to surround with a cylindrical or semicylindrical portion, in its putforward shooting position, a longitudinal length of the barrel (13). The obturator is thus suitable both for the axial and for the radial or piezoelectric percussion. A machine pistol includes means for retarding blowback of the slide assembly (100). The pistol has both right hand and left hand stocks (12, 13) to enable the weapon to be fired from a comfortable visual sighting position at eye level with the wrist axes perpendicular to one another. The slide assembly (100) includes a bolt (110) which carries the firing pin (129), extractor and ejector and which reciprocates relative to the receiver (20) and barrel (60), and a tubular cylindrical muzzle sleeve (140) releasably connected to the forward end of the bolt (110) and which fits coaxially around the barrel (60). A coaxial helical spring (65) is provided between the barrel (60) and muzzle sleeve (140) to urge the muzzle sleeve (and bolt) to the forward firing position in which the forward end of the muzzle sleeve extends outwardly beyond the end of the barrel. A plurality of annular internal grooves (150) are formed in the forward end of the muzzle sleeve (140) so that the momentum of the escaping gases immediately following firing exerts a force against the sidewalls (152) of the grooves to retard blowback of the slide assembly (100).
