PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing and packaging an object made of a soft plastic material preferably including several individual portions of a fatty product such as butter or margarine wherein the object is manufactured and packaged in an especially simple form and the individual portions are easily removed when necessary. SOLUTION: The fatty product is filled into a packing cover (4) which opens on one of sides by a grid die (31) placed in a product exit channel (14), thereby forming the individual portions which are separated by a separation gap. A push-in part (43) or a groove or the like is led in close proximity of the separation gap by a push-in tool (38). COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO

Conventional fat or oil foods in water-in-oil type emulsion form are fluid immediately after the preparation, but become very hard upon cooling. This necessitates preheating before the division of the foods, resulting in poor working efficiency and, even when the remaining portion is again cooled and stored, the deterioration in quality is unavoidable because the surface and the other portion have been melted. All the above problems have now been solved by filling a fat or oil food in fluid water-in-oil type emulsion form into a mold with a partitioning frame consisting of a plurality of partitioning plates provided therein, moving the filled food from a filling position to a discharging position, and extruding and discharging the food from the mold by means of an extruding die which has been partitioned into the same configuration as the partitioning frame and has grooves for entrance of the partitioning plates, thereby precutting the food.

9 Apparatus for melting refrigerated butter EP80201237.7 1980-12-29 EP0055306A1 1982-07-07 Van Vlaenderen, Johannes M. H.

The invention relates to an apparatus for melting refrigerated butter, cream or similar substances. According to the invention, a block (3) of butter to be melted is forced by a mechanically energized punch (4) through a grating (2), which grating (2) is composed of heated tubes (102) that are substantially triangular in transverse section. The block of butter is faced by angular top edges (7) of the tubes (102). The wall (12) of the grating tubes facing away from the block (3) of butter is preferably furnished with a heat barrier (11), the angular edges (9) of this wall being as sharp-cornered as possible and preferably equipped with aprons (13) which are at least substantially perpendicular to the plane of the grating.

PURPOSE: A method and apparatus is provided, wherein the object is manufactured and packaged in an especially simple form and the individual portions are easily removed when necessary. CONSTITUTION: A method involves first forming a packaging casing(4) open on one side and filling the fat containing product into it to form the individual portions at separating lines bounding the facing sides, near which peripheral notches, grooves or similar are formed before the open side of the packaging casing is finally closed. Several individual portions are produced adjacent to and behind each other. The fatty product is filled into the packing cover which opens on one of sides by a grid die placed in a product exit channel(14), thereby forming the individual portions which are separated by a separation gap.

A method of processing a food product includes providing a source of pulse ultraviolet (UV) radiation. In operation, the method includes directing the UV radiation at the food product to photo-ablate the food product. A combination of parameters associated with the radiation may be selected, including at least one of a group of radiation focus spot size, radiation pulse repetition rate and source power to alter a performance characteristic of the technique, such as food processing speed.
