2, etc. into the furnace in an emergency for the lower section of the furnace body 1 and the outlet side of exhaust gas, and a CO
2 gas storage cylinder 4 is used. By opening valves 13 and 14 in an emergency an inert gas is supplied to the lower section of the furnace such as a combustion air supply duct 7, an ash takeout box 8, etc. and to the outlet side which goes to a secondary combustion furnace 2. Further, a bypass line 15 is provided for a safety valve 9 in the upper section of the furnace, and the gas in the furnace is led to an exhaust gas cylinder 6 through a filter 10 by opening a valve 16 in an emergency. The dispersion to the outside of the combustion gas, ash, etc. which contain radioactivity is, therefore, prevented in an emergency and the combustion of a suppressed combustion furnace is stopped safely.
