A bovine teat sanitizer includes a gun-like grip handle, trigger mechanism and control poppet valve connected to a pressurized sanitizing fluid supply. A fixed in-line teat cup sized to receive a predetermined volume of fluid from a proportioning valve sufficient for treating four teats of the bovine is connected to the handle. A toroidal overflow chamber receives displaced fluid from the cup when the cup captures and essentially seals a teat thus forcing sanitizing fluid into the teat strep canal and epidermis. The cup is lowered and displaced fluid from the overflow chamber returns to the cup cavity by gravity for use on the second and succeeding teats. A splash guard and teat guide snaps onto the cup and forms the chamber top and inner sides. |

A method and system is provided for treatment of large animals such as down cows, that is, cows which, due to physiological disorders, are unable to raise themselves. A drag mat, made from strong rubber, is placed next to the down animal, and the animal is rolled onto the drag mat. A treatment tank, having removable end door plate members is positioned in front of the down animal, and a ramp is placed nearest the head of the down animal. The drag mat, with the animal thereon, is pulled into the treatment tank by a tractor or a truck. The end door plate members are replaced and sealed to form a watertight sealed tank. Preferably, warm water is filled into the treatment tank for assisting the animal in raising itself. |

The decontamination of birds and other animals, the victims of oil spills by adding a low viscosity oil, by means of agitated tanks or sprays, to fur or feathers as a diluent followed by a water in oil emulsion, which is then inverted to an oil in water emulsion. The contaminants are thus in the internal phase and the external phase is aqueous. The remaining contaminants are then washed away with water. |

An animal exerciser having a water pool in which there is a submerged treadmill. The treadmill includes an endless belt with a top run on which the animal rests. A rigid support plate supports the top run. The support plate is perforated, and air is blown through its perforations to lubricate and separate in the region between the support plate and the top run. The discharged air tends to attach itself to particulate matter in the pool, which is readily removed for screening from the pool. |

A device is described particularly suited for the bathing of pet cats and small dogs. Research has indicated that a cat bath which is made of transparent material and so dimensioned and designed to permit the cat to grasp an upper section of said bath with its forepaws tends to pacify the animal. In addition, the bath has variable size patterns which serves as a aperture through which the cat can put its head but not its shoulders. The bathing container has an agitator and a ring spray which keeps the water in motion about the animal. Research has indicated that the width and breadth of said cat bath must be less than the length of the average cat and the height of the container approximately the length of an average cat. When the animal is placed into the container and liquid admitted, the animal stands on its rear paws with its forepaws grasping the upper section of the bath and its head out of the aperture. Because of the different sizes of animals which must be accommodated, an assortment of patterns is supplied to create the head aperture assuring that the animal will not escape. The animal is restrained because it cannot get its shoulders through the selected pattern. It has been discovered that the animal ceases to panic once it gets its head through the aperture. |

An improved horse therapy spa unit is provided which comprises a unitary housing which defines a preferably open-topped water-tight horse therapy compartment and integral hot water and cold water chambers on opposite sides thereof. A water heater and a water refrigerator are disposed in the housing. Water circulation pumps, valves and conduits interconnect the chambers, heater, refrigerator and horse therapy compartment. A water aerator is included in the circulation system and upper and lower sets of jet spray nozzles are positioned in the walls of the therapy compartment. A control panel on the outside of the housing controls the circulation and temperature regulating systems. A hand-held pulsed jet spray unit may be included in the housing, as may radiation lamps disposed in ports in the therapy compartment, a container for medicine and/or disinfecting chemicals, a feed bag and a feed storage compartment. The front end of the therapy compartment is curved to allow the horse to rest its neck, and side ramps are provided on the exterior of housing to aid handlers in guiding the horse and administering treatment thereto. A filtration system removes gross solid refuse and also finer refuse particles from the therapy compartment. The housing is portable and adapted to rest on the ground in a stable position, the water chambers acting as ballast. Retractable wheels are connected to the housing to permit easy transportation of the spa to locations where needed. |

An upwardly opening cup is provided including a lower inlet for upwardly directing spray jets of fluid thereinto and open and contoured at its upper end to fittingly accommodate not only a depending teat but also the portion of the udder immediately surrounding the selected teat. The interior of the cup includes radially inwardly projecting bristle-type blades for effecting a scrubbing action on the exterior of an associated teat in response to spray jets of liquid being upwardly directed onto the blades and the associated teat from the cup lower inlet, and the upper axial end of the cup includes a circumferentially extending zone of upwardly projecting flexible blades for contacting the udder area immediately surrounding the associated teat and tactilly stimulating the udder to facilitate quick and complete milk "let-down". The flexible blades carried by the upper circumferential zone of the cup are also caused to oscillate back and forth, laterally, in response to spray jets of liquid being discharged into the cup from the lower end thereof with the effect that the udder is tactilly stimulated in substantially the same as that accomplished naturally by the tongue of a nursing calf. |

A whirlpool therapy facility especially useful for treatment of racehorses is disclosed. The facility includes a heated pool of water contained within an elongated channel shaped tub having upstanding substantially parallel sidewalls and a pair of opposed laterally extending inclined ramps for ingress to and egress from the pool. A plurality of air induction type hyrdrojet water nozzles is carried by each of the sidewalls in an inverted substantially U-shaped pattern corresponding generally to the outline of the torso and legs of a horse. Turbulence in the pool is generated by jets of intermixed water and air injected under pressure through the nozzles at selected body portions of the horse to massage disfunctional or injured muscles and joints. The tub is preferably large enough to accommodate two horses in tandem for simultaneous therapy treatments. |
