A retrofit assembly for inserting LED luminaries into previously recessed lighting fixtures has a horizontal bridge adjustable for various existing opening diameters of ceiling holes. The horizontal bridge carries two vertically adjustable brackets at its opposing ends. Tabs on the end plates of the bridge and tabs on the vertically adjustable brackets together help form bolt-operated vertical clamps adjustable for various ceiling thicknesses. The vertically adjustable brackets also carry torsion spring receivers for accepting the torsion springs of a retrofit LED luminaire/trim assembly. The vertically adjustable brackets may be spring-loaded for ease of adjustment when increasing the dimension of the vertical clamps.

A substantially tubular housing houses a swivel unit proximate one of its ends and a tailpiece proximate the other of its ends; with a relatively strong spring disposed therebetween to urge each unit against its respective housing end with sufficient pressure to retain each such unit as selectively positioned. A swivel seat washer is disposed between the spring and swivel; while a pair of washers, one plastic and one brass, are disposed between the spring and tailpiece. The swivel unit includes an extension with external threads and flat sides that cooperate with flat sides of an opening in the housing end and through part of the sidewall of the housing; the flat sides of the extension and of the housing opening coacting to restrict rotation of the swivel to ninety degrees of rotation about a first axis of rotation. The tailpiece is disposed within the housing to rotate about a second axis of rotation and is formed with an enlarged end that is retained within the housing and a reduced end that extends out through the other end of the housing. The inner wall of the housing at said second end is counterbored to provide a clearance space between said enlarged tailpiece end and the inner wall of the housing but for less than the full coextensive length of the two. The shoulder formed in the inner wall at the end of the counterbore is champhered to minimize, if not eliminate, a pressure point between the tailpiece and housing at this location. Stop means are provided to restrict rotation of the tailpiece to almost, but less than 360.degree..

A system for positioning and preloading a support beam by bending deformation, comprising a first anchoring unit (10) adapted to engage one end (8) of the beam (2), comprising: - a support base (12) adapted to bear on an abutment surface (6) external to the system. - a connection member (13) articulated on the support base in order to oscillate about an axis of articulation (Y) and - an attachment portion (15) adapted to engage the first end of the beam and secured on the connection member so that the longitudinal axis (X) of the beam, when engaged in the attachment portion, is spaced from the axis of articulation (Y) of the connection member so as to cause the connection member to oscillate about this axis of articulation as a result of a stress directed along the longitudinal axis of the beam. Thrust means (26) are disposed between the connection member and the end of the beam in order to space the beam (2) from the connection member (13) along the longitudinal axis (X), thus causing the axial stress and the resulting oscillation of the connection member so that the beam is bent and deformed in the direction of oscillation of the connection member (13) by the engagement of this first end (8) in the attachment portion (15).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the installation position and height of a lamp as desired by stretching vertically or horizontally a pipe of an adjustable length and mounting the pipe with a movable support device. SOLUTION: A pipe portion to be fixed by being stretched against upper and lower ends or both side walls is made up of a small-diameter pipe 4 and a threaded pipe 6, each mounted with a rubber cap 1 and a spring 2, and a fastening screw 5 for length adjustment. The reason the small diameter pipe 4 and the threaded pipe 6 are mounted with the rubber caps 1 and the springs 2, is because play should be given to the length of the pipe portion when it is stretched. Holding brackets 3 are mounted on the pipe portion fixed in the vertical or horizontal direction. An A-support 7 with a B-support 8 is mounted on the holding brackets 3, a fluorescent lamp 9 is mounted on a tip thereof, and the holding brackets 3 are adjusted in height and fixed by fastening support fastening screws 10, 11.
