A system for repositioning teeth comprises a plurality of individual appliances. The appliances are configured to be placed successively on the patient's teeth and to incrementally reposition the teeth from an initial tooth arrangement, through a plurality of intermediate tooth arrangements, and to a final tooth arrangement. The system of appliances is usually configured at the outset of treatment so that the patient may progress through treatment without the need to have the treating professional perform each successive step in the procedure.

The invention relates to a method for producing a dental product, according to which a moulding, in the form of a negative mould, of a tooth or a tooth stump is created using a moulding material, and this negative mould is scanned. The scanner result is then used to mechanically produce the dental product. In order to improve the scanner result, either the surface of the moulding is roughened, or a scannable moulding material containing between 0.01 and 80 wt.% of titanium dioxide, zirconium dioxide, zinc oxide and/or barium sulfate and black colouring pigments, is used.

266 DENTAL MODEL TRAY AND ASSOCIATED ARTICULATOR EP05712519 2005-01-26 EP1734890A4 2008-07-16 GARLAND JAMES K
A dental model tray (12) for use in forming a dental model has a rigid bottom wall (16) and a relatively thin side wall (17) extending upwardly from the perimeter of the bottom wall (16) to form an open-topped cavity which is adapted to receive the dental casting material. The bottom wall (16) and the side wall (17) are formed integrally of polymeric material with the side wall (17) being joined to or attached to the bottom wall (16) by a thin membrane-like connector member (19) that is formed integrally with the perimeter bottom wall (16) and a lower side edge of the side wall (17). The connector member (19) is frangible and easily broken so that the side wall (17) can be torn away from the base and discarded after dental casting material has hardened in the cavity formed by the side wall (17).

A system for straightening teeth includes a casting of teeth that is made of a rigid material, and a gum casting made of a flexible material that is joined to the teeth casting. A respective articulating tool for each tooth is provided with a post that is embedded into the tooth. Tooth moving components, accessible through the gum casting, are mounted on each post to selectively provide for left-right, fore-aft, and rotational tooth movements. In its operation, the system involves selectively orienting individual teeth in the teeth casting, to prepare a series of sequentially useable appliances that will straighten teeth in accordance with a pre-planned procedure.

An objective of the present invention is to provide an adhesive composition for an alginate impression material having excellent adhesive property to materials of various kinds of impression tray such as metal, plastic and the like, and having an effect to a paste type alginate impression material which does not conventionally have sufficient holding force to an impression tray. The adhesive composition for an alginate impression material, has the feature that 1-50 weight % of one or more kinds of compound selected from rosin, ester gum and polyamide resin are dissolved in an organic solvent. As the organic solvent, isopropyl alcohol, ethyl acetate, toluene and the like can be used. Although those can be independently used, the organic solvent obtained by combining isopropyl alcohol and ethyl acetate or isopropyl alcohol and toluene is preferable.

A computer obtains a digital model of a patient's dentition, including a dental model representing the patient's teeth at a set of initial positions, and a gingival model representing gum tissue surrounding the teeth. The computer then derives (540, 542, 544, 546, 548) from the digital model an expected deformation of the gum tissue as the teeth move from the initial positions to another set of positions.

A programmed computer is used to create a digital model of an individual component of a patient's dentition. The computer obtains a 3D digital model of the patient's dentition, identifies points in the dentition model that lie on an inter-proximal margin between adjacent teeth in the patient's dentition, and uses the identified points to create a cutting surface that separates portions of the dentition model representing the adjacent teeth.

A computer is used to create a plan for repositioning an orthodontic patient's teeth. The computer receives an initial digital data set representing the patient's teeth at their initial positions and a final digital data set representing the teeth at their final positions. The computer then uses the data sets to generate treatment paths along which the teeth will move from the initial positions to the final positions.
