PURPOSE: To provide a check valve structure for a liquid ring pump, wherein a relatively large check valve is provided so as to prevent its interference with the flow of a gas discharged from the pump through the check valve, and is disposed in a maintenance easy place. CONSTITUTION: In a liquid ring pump having a port member provided with at least one auxiliary gas discharge port in addition to a main gas discharge port, auxiliary gas discharge conduits 66 and 68 are extended from the auxiliary gas discharge port, and accordingly the fixing of relatively large check valves 76 and 78 to the auxiliary port is facilitated. The auxiliary discharge conduits 66 and 68 are provided preferably in the head member 60 of the pump, and similarly preferably extended substantially in a radial direction from the auxiliary port. Thus, the check valves 76 and 78 are disposed in places having smaller constraints in the pump, and therefore check valve accessing for the fixing, or maintenance of the large check valves is facilitated. Other embodiments of the invention are directed toward heat management, and other process enhancements for making the system especially efficient.

The auxiliary discharge conduit (68) is preferably provided in the head member of the pump, and it preferably extends away from the auxiliary port in a generally radial direction. This allows the check valve to be placed at a less congested location in the pump, which facilitates provision of a larger check valve and also access to the check valve for such purposes as maintenance of the check valve.
