Method for binding at least one elongate object, comprising the steps of: providing an adhesive tape, wherein the adhesive tape is connected at an outer end to an adhesion surface of a cutting device, wherein the cutting device also comprises a cutting member which is rigidly connected to the adhesion surface; moving the adhesive tape in a path of movement against the longitudinal side of the elongate object, wherein the adhesive tape adheres to the elongate object; removing the adhesive tape from the adhesion surface; moving the cutting device out of the path of movement of the adhesive tape; binding the elongate object at least once with the adhesive tape; moving the cutting device back to the adhesive tape; moving the cutting device, wherein the adhesive tape is once again connected to the adhesion surface before being severed by the cutting member.

A device for sorting and further handling long-stalked plants, comprising a first conveyor belt, on which said long-stalked plants can be transported past a detection device, wherein the device includes means for sorting the long-stalked plants on the basis of their detected characteristics and supply them to collecting stations, and wherein the device furthermore comprises a number of operating stations for subjecting the collected long-stalked plants to further operations, wherein two or more take-over stations are disposed beside the first conveyor belt for taking over long-stalked plants having the desired characteristics from the conveyor belt, wherein take-over means are disposed above the conveyor belt at each take-over station, which take-over means are movable in transverse direction over the conveyor belt surface so as to supply a long-stalked plant present on the conveyor belt to the take-over station in question, wherein said take-over means can be controlled by a signal from the detection device.

The invention relates to a device for sorting and bundling flowers. The device has been provided with a frame and with a conveyor belt, which runs in a substantially horizontal plane during operation and to which supporting means are coupled so as to support the flowers. Said supporting means are capable of reciprocating movement in said substantially horizontal plane with respect to the conveyor belt in order to deliver the flowers to a second conveyor belt provided near a bundling station. A plurality of fork-shaped means are coupled to said second conveyor belt so as to be pivotable about horizontal pivot axes. Weights are coupled to said pivotal fork-shaped means in such a manner that said weights attempt to keep said fork-shaped means in a horizontal position.
