Disclosed are novel organic pigments adapted particularly for use as fillers for paper. The organic pigments are finely divided particles obtained by graft copolymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, such as styrene, onto a water-soluble cationic prepolymer in an aqueous solution and in the presence of a free-radical polymerization initiator.

Matt paints which give dry films with gloss of 15 units (measured by ASTM D523-62T, using an 85 degrees gloss head) contain (A) film-forming carrier, (B) pigment dispersed in (A), and (C) porous polymer grains. The vol. conc. of (B) is 5-78% of (A+B), and that of (C) is 25-60% of the total dry film. The mean dia. of (C) is 1-50 mu and their vol. average dia. is 5-35 mu. The vol. conc. of (B) is pref. 5-35% of (A+B), but for certain applications (e.g. ceilings), a gloss of 10 units can be obtained with over the critical pigment vol. conc. The vol. conc. of (C) is pref. 35-50%, and the polymer or the pores, pref. contain pigment. Use of higher loadings of (C) than in known matt paints gives highly opaque coatings with good resistance to abrasion.

A porous material (e.g. a paper 6) has pores with a range of sizes. A pore modifying agent (comprising particles 8 of a narrow size range) is selectively incorporated within the larger pores (7) to provide zones (9) of high surface area. These greatly reduce the penetrability of the material (e.g. by micro-organisms) while having relatively little effect on its air-permeability. The modifying agent (8) may be incorporated by creating a pressure difference across the material (2), and treating it with a dispersion (e.g. an aerosol) of the modifying agent (8), under conditions of low inertia, and incorporating only a small amount of the agent (8) (e.g. under 1% w/w).

PURPOSE: A parking ticket which is able to write down a memo is provided to simply write down memo such as parking position. CONSTITUTION: A parking ticket for indicating parking information comprises a pressure sensitive paper. The pressure sensitive paper contains a paper(10), acid powder layer(20), and micro dye capsule layer(30). The acid powder layer is coated on the surface of the paper. Very fine acid powder is applied on the acid powder layer. In case that a dye capsule layer bursts by outer pressure, dye is released from the inside of the dye capsule layer and the dye reacts with the acid powder layer, and than the color is indicated.
