A cutting device is disclosed. The cutting device has a housing and a carriage that is movably disposed in the housing, the carriage being movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The cutting device also has a cutting member that is removably disposable in the carriage, a cover member that is removably attachable to the housing, and an urging member that operably connects the carriage and the housing. The housing includes a locking member. When the carriage is in the extended position and the cover member is attached to the housing, the locking member locks the cover member to the housing. The urging member urges the carriage to move from the extended position toward the retracted position. |

A parting tool for parting seams and/or cutting threads or the like is disclosed. The parting tool may include an arc-shaped blade located between two tines of unequal length to effect a cut. The long tine may have a thorn-like point and the short tine may have a spherical thickening above the blade. The tines pass over into a shaft, which is fastened to one end of a shaft holder or mounting. The shaft mounting may include at its other end a pressure surface oriented perpendicularly to the blade and a rotation axle located at a defined distance in front of the pressure surface and oriented perpendicularly to the blade. The rotation axle may be rotatably supported in the lateral surfaces of a casing open within the rotation range of the shaft holder. A stop is provided within the casing for the shaft of the parting tool in the swivelled in, rest position. The stop may be a spring elastic element. |

A thread removal device preferably includes a thread cutter, a grasping implement and a finger base. The thread cutter preferably includes a blade projection and a safety projection extending from a cutter base. A cover cap may be placed over the thread cutter. The grasping implement includes a first grasping leg and a second grasping leg. A first contact pad is formed on one end of first grasping leg and a second contact pad is formed on one end of the second grasping leg. The first and second contact pads are biased away from each other. The other ends of the first and second grasping legs receive cutter base. The first grasping leg, the second grasping leg and the thread cutter may be attached to each other with any suitable assembly method. The finger base may be retained over grasping implement and the thread cutter. |

A thread removal tool for getting rid of loose thread pieces, thread ends, etc. from textiles, fabric, cloth and the like, for example, after ripping open a previously produced seam, contains a thread removal head (3). The thread removal head can be located at one end of a shaft or a handle part (1) and is configured to take hold of loose thread pieces or thread fragments, without itself becoming attached to an underlying textile item, a piece of cloth or the like. The thread removal head can have an uneven surface, e.g., contain bumps (5), to grasp loose thread pieces and thread fragments. Furthermore, or alternatively, it can be made of or have a surface layer made of a material which has a certain sticking or fastening action on such loose thread pieces and thread fragments. |

The apparatus of the present invention is a hand operated seam ripping or cutting instrument. It comprises a pair of metal blades pivoted so that the sharpened edges slide toward or away from each other when the handles opposite to the pivot are brought close to or separate from each other. The unique ripping section, which has an appearance of a craved hook, residing at the free end of one of the blades, is provided with a concave surface which is preferably sharp enough to rip a sewed seam but dull enough to prevent from inadvertently cutting the fabric and a tip that is preferably somewhat thin but rounded or smooth to avoid accidental snags in fabric or poke on the user's |

A seam ripper apparatus is disclosed for attachment to conventional automatic sewing machines. The seam ripper apparatus comprises a stationary horizontal leg having a yoke formed at its rearward end for connection to the presser foot screw mounted on the sewing machine presser bar. The forward end of the leg forms a double edge v-shape cutter having the two cutting edges formed on the interior sides of the ''''v.'''' The opening of the ''''v'''' faces the forward direction. The leg also includes a transverse pivot pin extending therethrough for pivotally supporting a movable arm adjacent the leg cutter. A yoke is formed at the rear end of the movable arm for loosely fitting over the needle clamp screw mounted on the sewing machine needle bar. The forward end of the arm forms a double-edged knife which is adapted to oscillate adjacent the v-shaped cutter. The oscillatory movement is caused by the driving motion of the needle clamp screw acting at the arm yoke. The v-shaped cutter and the two edges of the oscillating knife enable the knife to perform a cutting stroke in both directions of movement.
