A sewing machine with an articulated table is provided to facilitate the proper positioning and removal of workpieces. The drive shaft disposed under the table also is articulated to rotate with a portion of the table. An alignment piston is provided to securely align the drive shaft prior to any articulation thereof. An articulation piston is provided to positively move the table through its range of articulation. A locking piston also is provided to lock the table into its nonarticulated condition. The various piston members are preferably controlled by a common unit to ensure coordinated action.
22 Dual function sewing machine with a rotatable base US408658 1982-08-16 US4436042A 1984-03-13 Susumu Hanyu; Yoshikazu Ebata
A rotation switching device for a sewing machine having a lock stitching mechanism and an overlock stitching mechanism. The device includes a rotatable operating member and a base disc connected to the operating member and movable in a vertical direction upon rotation of the operating member between a rest position in which the base disc is above the machine mounting surface and an operating position in which the base disc projects downward farther than the feet on the lower face of the machine body. In this position the base disc contacts the machine mounting surface to lift the body of the sewing machine from the mounting surface, whereby the body of the sewing machine may be rotated in a horizontal plane to place either the lock stitching mechanism or the overlock stitching mechanism to a use position.

25 Double chain stitch sewing machine US11814288 2006-01-27 US07565872B2 2009-07-28 Jörg Rippert; Robert Keilmann
A double chain stitch sewing machine includes an upper section (10) and a lower section (12), which can be displaced synchronously parallel to a sewing product plane (14) The upper section includes a needle rod (18) holding a needle (20), and a drive (28) for displacing the needle rod perpendicularly to the sewing product plane. The lower section has a hook (40), which reciprocates in a plane parallel to the displacement direction of the needle rod and cooperates with the needle to form the stitch At least one needle stabilizer (42 or 44) in the lower section can be displaced synchronously with the needle rod and hook displacements between a first needle position close to the needle path, in which the needle stabilizer supports the needle against deflection transverse to the displacement path of the hook ,and a second position offset from the needle path.
26 Sewing machine with detachable and independently driven loop taker module US752311 1996-11-19 US5791272A 1998-08-11 Kohichi Akahane; Takashi Kondo; Masaki Shimizu; Yoshikazu Kurono; Fumiaki Asano
A sewing machine including a head portion for mounting a needle with a needle thread; a needle drive motor for driving the needle; a bed portion; and a loop taker module detachably fixed to the bed portion and including: a loop taker for catching a thread loop of the needle thread of the needle; and a loop taker drive motor for driving the loop taker.
27 Sewing method including a step of downwardly folding facing junction edges of two parts of a workpiece and a sewing apparatus US53149 1993-04-27 US5456196A 1995-10-10 Roberto Sanvito
The described sewing machine has a work supporting bed (5) divided into two portions (6, 7) separated from each other by a central slot (8). The parts (2, 3) of a workpiece (M) to be assembled are laid down each on one portion (2, 3) of the work supporting bed (5) and are moved close to each other so that the respective junction edges (G) may mutually match after being vertically folded downwardly within the slot (8). The junction edges (G) thus oriented engage between a needle plate (9) and a presser foot (25) disposed according to vertical planes, for being submitted to the action of feeding and sewing means operating under the work supporting bed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the housing space by reducing the projected area of moving devices, by installing two moving devices for moving a holding device of an embroidering object in two directions on the under side of a sewing device, and rotatably constituting at least one to the other among the moving devices. SOLUTION: An X arm 1 and a Y arm 4 are detachably provided in a sweing machine main body A. The X arm 1 is fixed in the width direction of the sewing machine main body A, and an end part of the Y arm 4 is installed on this X arm 1 so as to be movable in the X direction. An embroidery frame installing seat 70 is installed on the Y arm 4 so as to be movable in the depth direction, and an embroidery frame 7 is detechably installed on this embroidery frame installing seat 70. Thus, the embroidery frame 7 is moved in both X, Y directions on the under side of a sewing mechanism 8 in the sewing machine main body A to sew embroidery. The Y arm 4 is rotatably constituted, and can be superposed on the X arm 1 at housing time. While, the X arm 1 and the Y arm 4 are fixed to an almost orthogonal position at embroidering time. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower manufacturing costs of multiple kinds of sewing machines by enhancing versatility in a drive motor and parts of a drive system for driving shuttle and workability in the assembling and repairing thereof. SOLUTION: A bed part 2 is provided with a shuttle 16 for catching thread rings and a shuttle module 13 which contains a drive means 21 to drive the shuttle 16 for catching the thread rings independent of a drive means 7 for driving sewing needles 11a and 11b and is fixed detachably. The shuttle module 13 composes a part of the bed part 2 and is fixed detachably on the body of a sewing machine. Thus, since the shuttle 16 for catching the thread rings is driven independently by the drive means 16, a simple structure with a limited number of parts is made possible by miniaturizing the drive means 16, and thereby the shuttle module 13 can be miniaturized. 40 Sewing machine for assembling elements of workpiece and method to be executed by the same JP12633093 1993-05-27 JPH06105978A 1994-04-19 ROBERUTO SANBITO
PURPOSE: To confirm the alignment of decorative design formed on elements to be assembled even during the execution of a sewing step. CONSTITUTION: A sewing machine has a workpiece supporting bed 5 divided into two side portions 6 and 7. Two side portions 6 and 7 are mutually separated by a central slot 8. The parts 2 and 3 of a workpiece M to be assembled are respectively placed on the side portions 6 and 7 of the workpiece supporting bed 5 and moved close to each other so that the respective junction edges G are mutually match after being vertically folded downwardly within the slot 8. Thus, the junction edges G are turned toward an engage portion between a needle plate 9 and a presser foot 25. The needle plate 9 and presser foot 25 are disposed according to vertical planes so as to respond to the action of feeding and sewing means to be operated under the workpiece supporting bed 5.
