PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine capable of adjusting a needle space without using a tool, and capable of finely adjusting the needle space easily.SOLUTION: A needle space which is a space between a sewing needle mounted on a needle bar and a hook provided at a shuttle of a sewing machine can be adjusted by moving the sewing needle in the longitudinal direction. In a needle bar base 130 which supports the needle bar in a vertically movable way, a support shaft 124 of a base holder 120 is inserted into a through hole 131 at an upper end part 137, and a lower end side is supported in a swingable way in the right and left direction. The needle bar base 130 is energized by a compression coil spring 155 from a base end part 125 side of the support shaft 124 toward a tip part 127 side, and the needle bar base 130 is made to come into contact with a contact part 143 of an adjustment dial 140 that is screwed to the tip part 127. The needle bar base 130 is moved in the longitudinal direction by rotating the adjustment dal 140 to perform an adjustment of the needle space.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine in which, when either one needle space, right or left, is adjusted and the other needle space is adjusted after that, the needle space of the adjusted one side is kept unchanged.SOLUTION: A guide member 190 in which a receiving hole 193 is engaged with a boss part 123 of a base holder is rotatable with a center line Q, R as a rotation center. With a long groove 191 of the guide member 190, a pin 135 of a needle bar base which supports a needle and which is swingably supported at the base holder is engaged. When the needle bar base swings and the needle bar is positioned at a left base line position A, a center line P of the pin 135 coincides with the center line Q, R, so that a left needle space X is unchanged even though the guide member 190 is rotated. When the needle bar is positioned at a right base line position, the center line P deviates from the center line Q, R, so that right needle space can be adjusted by rotating the guide member 190.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine which has an illumination means and is easy to exchange parts such as a sewing needle, a presser foot and the like while securing the safety of its user. SOLUTION: This sewing machine includes a storage battery 203 which can store electricity and is supplied with electric power from the storage battery 203 when the power supply from the main power source 201 is shut down. When an operation on a presser operation lever is carried out, a detection switch 60 detects the operation and a white LED 40 for illuminating around is lit. In addition, the illuminating period of time is measured by a timer 207 and the white LED 40 for illuminating around is put off when the measured time becomes a predetermined period of time. Furthermore, if another operation on the presser operation lever is carried out while the timer 207 measures the illuminating time, the illuminating time measurement by the timer 207 is restarted. With this procedure, the white LED 40 for illuminating around can be lit continuously. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent trouble accompanying the deterioration of a sewing needle form occurring by automatically determining the damaged state of the sewing needle without depending on a visual check or judgement by a user. SOLUTION: In a controlling apparatus of a sewing machine, image sensors 17 and 18 photograph the image of the sewing needle 7, and the shape data of the sewing needle 7 is extracted from the image data by an image processing circuit. Then, the controlling apparatus obtains dimensions of each part of the sewing needle 7 from the shape data of the sewing needle 7, and determines whether there are abnormal values in the dimensions or not. When there is an abnormal value (a bent deformation abnormality of the sewing needle 7, or a crush or break abnormality of the distal end of the sewing needle 7), a message indicating the abnormality in the sewing needle 7 and suggesting the replacement is displayed on a screen of a liquid crystal display 20, and at the same time, a buzzer is made to sound to report the abnormality. PURPOSE:To cut off a power source automatically when an operator has left it ON carelessly and thereby avoid wasting power, by a method wherein time is counted after the stopping of the driving of the sewing machine is detected, and when the counted value has reached a predetermined value, a stopping signal is generated to cut off the power source. CONSTITUTION:When a sewing operation is finished and the stepping-in on a pedal is released, a lever 1 is returned, a microswich 6 is turnred OFF and a timer circuit TM starts to count time. In the case of interrupting the sewing operation with a microswitch SW2 left ON, when the counted value reaches a preset value, the timer circuit TM generates an abnormal signal, whereby a transistor TR is turned ON to energize a relay R2, and a contact R21 is changed over from NC side to NO side so as to de-energize a relay R1. The supply of power to a motor M is stopped due to the turning-OFF of contacts R11-R13, and the voltages on the primary and secondary sides of a transformer T are reduced to zero, and after a capacitor C is discharged, the relay R2 is also de- energized. Then, the machine can be started by depressing a reset switch SW1.

A sewing system serves for sewing seams which the multi-dimensionally in space. A needle-bar upper part of a sewing head is mounted so as to be pivotable in a driven manner about a needle-bar longitudinal axis. A gripper lower part is mounted so as to be pivotable in a driven manner, and in a manner synchronous with the needle-bar upper part, about the needle-bar longitudinal axis, in the sewing-head lower part. Motor components for driving the movement of a needle bar, for pivoting the needle-bar upper part, for driving a gripper in a manner synchronous with the needle bar and for pivoting the gripper lower part are disposed outside the needle-bar upper part and outside the gripper lower part. Parts to be sewn that are topographically non-uniform are also rendered accessible.

A sewing machine includes a thread take-up lever that supplies an upper thread to a needle from a thread supply source, a hook which catches the upper thread inserted in the needle, and which intertwine the upper thread with a lower thread, and a control unit that controlling a hook release phase at which the hook releases the upper thread in such a way that a hook/upper-thread necessary amount that is necessary when the upper thread is intertwined with the lower thread becomes smaller than a thread-take-up-lever/upper-thread supply amount that is supplied by an operation of the thread take-up lever. The control unit controls the hook release phase at a plurality of timings.
