Pompoms are removably attachable to the cuff portions of a long sleeve garment. The pompoms can be easily removed from the sleeves to allow the pompoms to be worn on the user's wrists independently of the garment. The pompoms are attached to the sleeves with use of cooperating releasable fasteners such as, but not limited to, hook and loop fasteners, hook and eye fasteners, snaps, or rows of loops and buttons encircling the wrist portion of the sleeve. A band on the pompoms has an arrangement of releasable fasteners to allow the pompoms to be adjustably secured around the user's wrists when separated from the garment sleeves. Examples of materials used for the pompoms include string, synthetic raffia, ribbons, fringe, yarn, plastic streamers, paper strips or feathers.

The portions of the drawstring (16) beyond the scarf body (12) in its gathered condition provide tying provisions for the accessory (10) for tying the ends together and/or for tying the ends to the clothing of the wearer.

A method of making a spirally woven article (34) using a weaving starter (1) to facilitate starting the article is disclosed. This device is of the type comprising a ring provided with projections over which are passed threads which cross the ring diametrally from one projection to another. The device is used to make motifs such as flowers, doilies or circular yokes.
