A device for the selective actuation of the needle selection members in needles looms using a perforated paper pattern, of the kind comprising memory means for recording information which corresponds to the perforations of the paper, them for controlling, as a function of this information, the members it is desired to displace is characterized in that it comprises a memory having displaceable members lockable in position, means for applying this memory to the perforated paper in order to displace selectively the said elements as a function of the perforations and means for applying it then to the selection members in such manner that the elements displace the latter in accordance with the information they have registered.

In a double-left Jacquard of the Verdol type in which the cam system adapted to actuate the pusher grid must be displaced angularly on its driving shaft between a first and a second position, or vice versa, whenever the direction of rotation of the loom is reversed, a reversing mechanism is provided by which this displacement is automatically accomplished when the Jacquard starts rotating. For this purpose said cam system, loosely journaled on its driving shaft, has a gear wheel which meshes with a first planet gear, the shaft of which is supported by a planet carrier keyed on the driving shaft. The planet shaft carries a second planet gear which meshes with a toothed sector carried by a drum having a limited angular freedom on the driving shaft and subjected to the action of a brake. Means are provided to release the brake when the cam system has been displaced. Other means render the brake ineffective as long as the Jacquard is at such a point of its operative cycle that displacement of the cam system would be liable to damage parts of the Jacquard. A Maltese cross mechanism locks the planet gears when the cam system has reached either one of its first and second positions on said driving shaft, the angle of freedom of the drum on the driving shaft being greater than the angular extent of the toothed sector.

In a reversible Verdol jacquard wherein the cam which actuates the pusher grid to press the needles is displaceable angularlly on its driving shaft between two angular positions respectively corresponding to forward and to backward operation of the jacquard, this displacement is automatically realized by means responsive to the direction of rotation of the driving shaft. The cam may carry a member having a radial slot which guides the free end of a connecting lever mounted on a lateral shaft parallel to but spaced from the driving shaft and rotatably carried by a support keyed on the driving shaft, the said lever rotating between two end positions at each of which it is substantially perpendicular to the slot. Rotation of the lateral shaft may be obtained by means of a planet pinion carried by the said lateral shaft to cooperate with a sun gear loosely mounted on the driving shaft, this gear being retained against rotation by locking means which are automatically released when the driving shaft has rotated through a predetermined angle after reversal of its rotation.

Chacune des aiguilles (1) comporte deux cambrages (1b, 1c) propres à coopérer avec une plaque (12) que cette aiguillette traverse dans une ouverture (12a). Un déplacement horizontal de la plaque (12) assure le verrouillage en place de l'aiguillette de telle sorte que le support (3) du papier (2) peut être abaissé en vue de permettre l'avance de ce papier pendant le mouvement du train de barres (5).

Cette coquille est soumise aux mouvements de va-et-vient verticaux d'un dispositif de bielle et manivelle (10, 11) qui soulève la coquille (2) pour qu'elle applique le papier (7) contre une plaque-butée (6) chargée en direction du bas par des ressorts (9) à partir de la traverse fixe (5) de la mécanique d'armure.
