A display case security apparatus comprises a housing, a plurality of platform guide tracks, a platform, an elevating mechanism, and a closure. The housing includes a lower storage section and an upper display section disposed above the storage section. The storage section has an opaque exterior wall and the display section has an exterior wall which is at least partially transparent. The platform guide tracks are disposed on the interior of the housing. The platform is disposed within the housing and includes a generally horizontal portion for supporting articles to be displayed. The platform is selectively movable between a first position, wherein any articles supported on the platform are displayed in the display section of the housing, and a second position, wherein any articles supported on the platform are stored in the storage section of the housing. The platform interfits with the platform guide tracks so as to constrain the movement of the platform to vertical translation only. The elevating mechanism is mounted within the storage section and connected to the platform. The elevating mechanism includes a rotatable crankshaft and at least one pair of links. The first link of each pair of links has a first end which engages the crankshaft so as to rotate with crankshaft and a second end which is pivotally connected to a first end of the second link of each pair of links. Each of the second links has a second end which is pivotally connected to the platform, whereby the platform moves between the first position and the second position when the crankshaft rotates. The closure is selectively interposed between the display section and the storage section when the platform is in the second position, whereby the platform and any articles supported thereon are enclosed within the storage section of the housing.

A hook-shaped lower edge of each panel is coupled to an anchor rail fixedly mounted to the base of the display case. Each panel is then pivoted upwardly to cover a portion of the display case. The panels include flanges along an upper terminal edge thereof. The flanges are mated together in a U-shaped lock bar and a lock to securely couple the panels together and enclose the glass faces of the display case in a frangible-resistant protective cover to inhibit breakage of the glass faces and theft of the contents of the display case.
169 Cassette display unit US09349584 1999-07-09 US06176558B1 2001-01-23 Gregg J. Hlade; William Klippert, Jr.
A display system having a frame, a storage space on the frame for an object to be displayed, a closure element on the frame that is repositionable between a closed position and an open position, a loading opening through at least one of the frame and closure element in communication with the storage space, and a removal opening through at least one of the frame and closure element that is spaced from the loading opening and in communication with the storage space. The closure element blocks access to the storage space from a loading location with the closure element in the closed position and permits access to the storage space from the loading location with the closure element in the open position. An object to be display can be directed into the storage space selectively a) from the loading location with the closure element in the open position and b) through the loading opening with the closure element in the closed position into a storage position within the storage space and removed from the storage position through the removal opening.

173 Method of merchandising cutter bits and display case therefor US161145 1993-12-02 US5443310A 1995-08-22 Thomas H. DeFelice; Michael M. Sherman
A merchandising case adapted for displaying and storing cutter bits includes a cabinet, storage rack within the cabinet, a door movably mounted on the cabinet for concealing the storage rack, and a display rack mounted on the front of the door for holding the cutter bits on display. The display rack will retain a plurality of cutter bits on a display rack behind a transparent safety plate and above a display area. The display area has a plurality of individual receptacles, each receptacle retaining a plurality of chips each of which contains a die cut edge emulating the kerf profile created by a corresponding router bit positioned on the display rack, above the receptacle retaining the specific chip. A customer can remove one or more of the chips from the receptacle and compare it to the cutting edge of other cutter bits, or lay it against a workpiece. Once the appropriate chip is chosen by comparing a plurality of chips, the corresponding bit is purchased by opening the door of the case, and removing the appropriate bit from a plurality of bits returned on the storage rack.

175 Security shield for display cases US302051 1989-01-25 US4929862A 1990-05-29 Gregory C. Hamilton; Danielle R. Hamilton
A flexible shield panel is movably affixed between two U-shaped tracks and mounted in a jewelry store type glass top display case to protectively cover the jewelry display tray shelf. The U-shaped tracks are installed in the solid end walls of the display case with one longer track section horizontally positioned above the jewelry display tray shelf in close proximity to the shelf and the other longer track section below the display tray shelf. Elliptical discs attached by shafts to the edges of the flexible shield panel fit captively in interfaced lipped grooves which are track channels in the U-shaped track structure. The discs slide in the channel. In some applications, the discs can be sufficiently rounded and axled to turn in the track channel. The flexible shield panel is approximately half as long as the tracks and can be manually pulled along the tracks to an upward position closely covering a display tray of jewelry on the display tray shelf. The flexible shield panel can be pushed to a downward storage position. Key operated protruding lock rods are provided to lock the flexible shield panel securely in the upward position covering any jewelry on the display tray shelf.
