Trouser legs are prevented from riding up by means of a garter 2 to which is secured permanently or detachably a strut 3, e.g. of metal or whalebone, the other end of the strut engaging permanently or detachably in a hem 4a on the bottom of the trouser leg. A strip (not shown) of permanently stiffened fabric may be housed in the hem 4a of trousers made of heavy fabrics. For lightweight fabrics the strip 3 is of inverted T-shape, the bar of the T being housed in the hem 4a. |
