Methods for fabrication of articles, in particular knitted articles, using computer-controlled machines. A 3D model of the article is characterized by a 3D polygonal mesh defining a surface of the 3D model. A streamline is drawn on the 3D model, and used to define a set of isolines over the surface described by the 3D polygonal mesh. The isolines are quantized into equidistant points along their respective lengths and a cut line traversing each of the isolines is defined. Courses are defined by connecting quantization points of the isolines based on knitting rules to produce a 2D knitting map containing apexes. Apex attraction may be performed on a first portion of the 2D knitting map by decreasing a spatial distance between respective ones of the apexes. The 2D knitting map is subsequently converted to knitting instructions for a computer-controlled knitting machine. | ||||||

The present invention provides a knitting element which enables independent control of the rotation of rotors and can be applied to a practicable knitting machine. In a knitting element (1) which carries out knitting by using rotational movement of a rotor (2), that has a circular disk shape, the circumferential surface of the rotor (2) forms a sliding surface. A pair of bearing plates (13,14) which slidably support the circumferential surface of the rotor are arranged in a separated fashion in the radial direction of the rotor (2). A pair of supporting plates (12) are arranged on either side of the rotor (2) in the thickness direction so as to sandwich the rotor (2) and the bearing plates (13,14). These bearing plates (13,14) and the supporting plates (12) are integrated to constitute a thin plate shape. The rotor (2) is provided with an engaging recess section (22) which passes through the rotor (2) in the thickness direction and is opened from the circumferential surface side toward the inside of the rotor. A plurality of teeth (21) to which rotational drive force is transmitted are formed in the circumference edge portion of the rotor (2) and a knitting yam introduction opening (12a) through which a knitting yam enters and exits from the engaging recess section (22) is formed in each of the pair of supporting plates (12).

The invention holds out a method and device for knitting of hosiery where disadvantages of the existing technics level are eliminated. This is possible to be achieved by the method of knitting where loop-formation stages are shortened, loop transfer does not depend on loop formation and both are performed simultaneously; yarn pulling-out is replaced with pushing-out of it all over the way from the bobbin to the needle. Thus the yarn is not over-stretched, the duration of the process of loop knitting is shortened. So described method is realized by a device for knitting where the milled needle slots, loop-forming edges, the yarn pressing mechanism and the fabric straining mechanism have dropped out but their functions are realized by a needle fixing mechanism and a specific mechanism for taking back and pressing the yarn - Chet Jack. Furthermore, needle setting-in-motion by the knitting system or individual motors is replaced by a mechanism of type called 'gun' with electromagnetic, mechanical or pneumatic operation. The hosiery knitting device includes the following mechanisms: needle fixing mechanism, needle operation mechanism (type 'gun'), yarn pushing out mechanism, yarn taking back mechanism (Chet Jack). |
