CONSTITUTION: A waste water sprinkling apparatus is provided above the packing material 6 packed on a filter bed. This packing material 6 is formed from a porous synthetic resin body 12 having a pore size of 1mm and sprinkled waste water is penetrated in the synthetic resin body 12 by a capillary phenomenon to flow down toward the filter bed. As a result, the stagnation time of the waste water can be extended and air passages 16 are formed between the synthetic resin bodies 12 in a vertical direction and, therefore, air can be sufficiently supplied to bacteria grown in the synthetic resin body 12 and waste water treatment capacity can be enhanced.
