Useful as an antimicrobial agent. When used as the repellent for living things in water, the compound is dispersed into water or added to the coating compound as emulsion or wettable powder.
PROCESS: For example, a halogenomethylnaphthalene compound shown by the formula II (A is halogen) is reacted with an alkali metal salt of propiolic acid shown by the formula III (M is alkali metal atom) in an organic solvent to give the compound shown by the formula I.
