CONSTITUTION: During a normal operation of the blast furnace, the valves 12, 15 are closed, the water discharging valve 19 is opened and an interior of the evaporator 11 of the heat exchanger 10 is kept empty. When the exhaust gas shows an abnormal high temperature and this high temperature is sensed, the valve 15 is fully opened and the discharging valve 9 is fully closed, and then water is filled in the evaporation pipe 11. Thus, the cooling device 10 is acted as a boiler to absorb a heat from the hot exhaust gas and to cool the exhaust gas. The water is flowed through the valve 12, tank 13 and descending pipe 16 to be circulated. In this way, the water drip may not be splashed over the electric dust collector due to its indirect cooling system and then the pulsation of the temperature in the exhaust gas may be uniformed.
