CONSTITUTION: In response to the zero output of a down counter 3, a motor is stopped at a stop place. In order to hold the motor 1 at the stop place even for a disturbance, the output voltage of a place-voltage conver 4 takes a positive value at this side of the stop place and a negative value under the condition over the stop place. Thus, the output voltage of the converter 4 takes voltages of opposite phases before and after the stop place. When the motor 1 comes to a position within the allowable error of the stop place, the gain of a servo-loop, which is composed of the down counter 3, the place-voltage converter 4, a motor drive circuit 5, the motor 1, a rotary encoder 6 and a place detector 7, is reduced to reduce the vibrations of the motor 1. The time when the attenuated vibrations of the motor 1 comes to a place within the allowable range is detected to generate read timing pulses so that the information may be read out for a short access time.
