CONSTITUTION: Comercial power is input to a power rectifier 11a to convert to DC voltage and fed to a power invertor 11b, and a synchronous machine 2 is rotated as a synchronous motor. Signals from a rotor position detector 3 are fed back to the power invertor 11b to establish rotation speed. The switch 14 is closed by operating the irradiation indicator 13 simultaneously the power invertor 11b is shut down, and output from the secondary winding of synchronous machine 2 is applied to a boosting transformer 15, and after rectification the x-ray tube 5 is operated. Accordingly because x-ray is irradiated utilizing kinetic energy stored by the synchronous machine 2 comercial power may be applied only when it is rotated as a motor, thus the capacity of power can be made small.
