A field controller 2 controls a thyristor converter 21 in response to the deviation of the outputs between an armature voltage setting potentiometer 14 and an armature voltage detector 16 and deviation between the previous deviation and the output of a field current detector 18. The power of the potentiometer 14 is supplied through a transformer 27 and a rectifier 28 from a main circuit.
