1. In a turbine engine fuel control for a gas turbine engine having a compressor, the control having a housing with a fuel inlet and a metered fuel outlet formed therein and interconnected by first conduit means containing variable positionable metering valve means for metering fuel to said metered fuel outlet generally in accordance with a pressure differential controlled thereacross by a bypass system, said bypass system comprising bypass conduit means communicating with said first conduit means and adapted for communication with an area of relatively low pressure, bypass valve means for completing communication between said bypass conduit means and unmetered fuel within said housing as supplied thereto by said fuel inlet, said bypass valve means being effective to variably restrict communication between said bypass conduit means and said unmetered fuel within said housing moveable pressure responsive means, means for conveying a pressure signal associated with operation of said engine to said pressure responsive means in order to make said pressure responsive means responsive thereto, force transmitting means operatively interconnecting said bypass valve means and said pressure responsive means, said pressure responsive means being effective to apply a force to said bypass valve means through said force transmitting means in a direction tending to maintain said bypass valve means closed and thereby restrict communication between said bypass conduit means and said unmetered fuel within said housing, and solenoid means effective for adjustably positioning said metering valve in response to operator request.

A turbine engine fuel control according to claim 1, wherein said bypass valve means comprises second pressure responsive means acted upon by said pressure differential, said pressure differential being effective to urge movement of said bypass valve means in a direction to establish communication between said bypass conduit means and said unmetered fuel.

A turbine engine fuel control according to claim 1, wherein said pressure responsive means comprises diaphragm assembly means including movable abutment means carried thereby for engaging said force transmitting means, wherein said bypass valve means comprises second pressure responsive means acted upon by said pressure differential, said second pressure responsive means comprising second diaphragm assembly means including second movable abutment means carried thereby for also engaging said force transmtting means.

A turbine engine fuel control according to claim 1, including second conduit means generally in parallel with said first conduit means and communicating between said fuel inlet and said fuel outlet, said second conduit means including check valve means openable during cranking of said engine for delivering starting fuel to said engine.

A turbine engine fuel control according to claim 1, including second conduit means generally in parallel with said first conduit means and communicating between said fuel inlet and said fuel outlet, said second conduit means including check valve means openable during cranking of said engine for delivering starting fuel to said engine, and additional fuel reservoir means in communication with said second conduit means, said additional fuel reservoir means being effective to supply a charge of fuel to said second conduit means and said engine during cranking of said engine but prior to the opening of said check valve.

A turbine engine fuel control according to claim 5, including second check valve means normally open when said starting fuel is flowing through said second conduit means, said second check valve means being rendered closed upon the flow of metered fuel through said metering valve attaining a predetermined minimum rate of flow.

A turbine engine fuel control comprising a housing, a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet Formed in said housing, first conduit means interconnecting said fuel inlet and fuel outlet including variable positionable metering valve means for metering fuel to said fuel outlet generally in accordance with a pressure differential created thereacross, and means for sensing said pressure differential on opposite sides of said metering valve means, said sensing means being effective to establish a value of said pressure differential by causing pressure in said first conduit means upstream of said metering valve means to be partially vented to an area of low pressure when said pressure differential starts to exceed said value of said pressure differential, said metering valve means comprising an axially moveable valve member variably positionable with respect to a cooperating valve seat for controlling the flow of fuel therethrough, said valve member including servo passage means formed therethrough as to have one end in communication with the pressure of said fuel immediately upstream of said valve seat and another end in communication with a control pressure within a second chamber area, and solenoid operated variable restriction means for variably restricting the flow through said other end of said servo passage means in order to thereby vary the magnitude of said control pressure, said valve member being responsive to said control pressure by moving axially with respect to said valve seat in a direction to restore said control pressure to its predetermined valve.
8. A turbine engine fuel control according to claim 7, including second conduit means generally in parallel with said first conduit means and communicating between said fuel inlet and said fuel outlet, said second conduit means including check valve means openable during cranking of said engine for delivering starting fuel to said engine.
9. A turbine engine fuel control according to claim 8, including additional fuel reservoir means in communication with said second conduit means, said additional fuel reservoir means being effective to supply a charge of fuel to said second conduit means and said engine during cranking of said engine but prior to the opening of said check valve.
10. A turbine engine fuel control according to claim 9, including second check valve means normally open when said starting fuel is flowing through said second conduit means, said second check valve means being rendered closed upon the flow of metered fuel through said metering valve attaining a predetermined minimum rate of flow.
