CONSTITUTION: A timing pulse generating circuit 1 receives a timing signal SG1 in on off-state and an off-gate switching circuit 5 is operated, and a negative voltage V2 is applied to turn off a switching element 4. Moreover, the negative voltage V2 is applied to an emitter of a transistor (TR) 1 to be a conductive state. On the other hand, when the signal SG1 is turned from off to on, the circuit 1 operates an on-gate switch circuit 2, stops the circuit 5 and the circuit 2 uses a positive voltage V1 to apply a forward bias between the collector and emitter of the TR 1. On the other hand, the potential of the emitter terminal is zero and the TR 1 is going to be turned off. However, the TR 1 holds the on-state till the carrier between base and emitter is extracted and a gate current (i) (higher on-gate current ia) flows and the element is turned on.
