CONSTITUTION: There provided large frictional force on the surface of a feed wheel 17. Stationary guides 25, 28 which are movable only toward the inlet and outlet sides of yarn, respectively, are provided adjacently to the feed wheel 17, and as well a movable guide 45 which is possible to circularly move in association with allotment differential between the tension of the yarn and the force of a resilent device, is provided along the surface of the feed wheel 17. In accordance with the relative positions between the stationary guide and the movable guide, the yarn is moved to a feed position where the contact angle of the yarn increases with the demand of the knitting machine being automatically responded. On the contrary, the yarn is moved to a non-feed position where the contact angle of the yarn decreases, upon the stopping of the yarn. That is, no limitation is subjected to the yarn counting and there is a flexibility for the use, in comparison with the conventional feed wheel having a V groove. Further, the structure and operation of the device are simple and the cost thereof is cheap in comparison with a stretch type yarn feed device. Further, the present device is highly reliable.
