CONSTITUTION: An EGR control valve 24 in an EGR duct 23 is fed with a signal negative-pressure from a negative-pressure adjusting valve 25 which functions in response to the suction negative pressure, and fed with a negative pressure diluted with air through a duct 34. The opening of the valve 24 is increased as the signal negative-pressure increases; so that, in low-speed low-load operation such as idling, the negative-pressure signal at the valve 24 is zero and EGR is not conducted. In low- or medium-speed low-load operation, the suction negative-pressure on the downstream of a throttle valve 21 is very large so that an air intake port 33 opens and the VC negative-pressure is diluted with air. As a result, the signal negative- pressure applied to the valve 24 is nearly equal to atmospheric pressure, EGR is not concucted, and instability of operating performance is prevented.
