CONSTITUTION: A carrying vessel 1 for coal and so on is moored at a mooring buoy 2, and hoses 24, 25 are coupled thereto. Fresh water is supplied from a sediment pond 6 through the hose 25 into a fresh water tank 12 on board the vessel, high pressurized water is discharged from the fresh water tank 12 through a high pressurized water nozzle 16a onto coal in the hold 11, so that the coal is macerated into slurry. The slurry in a slurry tank 13 is unloaded by means of a pump 19 through the hose 24 and a submarine piping 21 to a power plant 4. Coal which has been separated from water through a screen 34a is stored into a silo by means of a conveyor 9a. In case where coal is transferred from the silo 5 to a boiler 44, spontaneous combustion is prevented by means of watering from the top of the silo. Withdrawal of coal out of the silo is the same as in case of that at the time of unloading from the hold 11.
