The electronic telephone sets transmit call signaling to and receive ringing control information from a main controller over a data link independent of the speech path but the conventional telephone sets must both transmit dial pulses and receive ringing signals over the talking path. A line transformer relay is used with both sets to repeat supervision. The conventional ringing signal, however, causes the line transformer relay to generate an erroneous switchhook state signal. In order to compensate for this erroneous response without requiring the reprogramming of the main controller each time the number of conventional and electronic key telephone sets served by the system is changed, a logic circuit inhibits the return of the station''s switchhook state ascertained by the line transformer relay for a predetermined interval after each cycle of ringing and causes an on-hook signal to be returned. 1. In an electronic key telephone system having a plurality of conventional telephone station sets and a plurality of electronic key telephone station sets wherein the electronic key telephone sets transmit call signaling to and receive ringing control information from a central control unit over a data link independent of the speech path but wherein the conventional station sets transmit dial pulses and receive ringing signals over the speech path, the combination comprising a plurality of station circuits each including a line transformer relay for detecting the supervisory state of the speech path of a respective one of said telephone station sets, means normally responsive to the operation of a line transformer relay for transmitting the supervisory state information of one of said respective ones of said station sets to said central control unit, and means responsive to the operation of a line transformer relay respective to one of said conventional telephone station sets for delaying said transmitting by said normally responsive means for a predetermined interval longer than the duration of a cycle of said ringing signals.
2. In an electronic key telephone system, the combination according to claim 1 wherein said line transformer relay includes contact means operable to generate one polarity transition signal when said supervisory state changes from on-hook to off-hook and an opposite polarity signal when said supervisory state changes from off-hook to on-hook, and wherein said means for delaying includes timing circuit means for generating a signal having said predetermined interval and means controlled by said one and by said opposite polarity signal for triggering said timing circuit means.

In an electronic key telephone system having a plurality of line circuits, a plurality of conventional telephone sets, a plurality of electronic telephone sets wherein the electronic key telephone sets transmit call signaling to and receive ringing control information from a central control unit over a data link independent of the speech path but wherein the conventional telephone sets transmit Dial pulses and receive ringing signals over the speech path, the combination comprising a time division switching network in which each of said station and line circuits is given an appearance, a line transformer relay associated with each of said station circuits and with each of said line circuits, said relay having contact means for repeating the supervisory state of the associated one of said circuits to another one of said circuits having an appearance in said network, means associated with said contact means of a line transformer relay associated with one of said conventional telephone sets for transmitting said supervisory state to said central control unit, and means responsive to the operation of said contact means of said last-mentioned transformer relay for delaying said transmitting for a predetermined interval greater than the duration of a cycle of said ringing signals.
4. In an electronic key telephone system, the combination according to claim 3 further including means associated with each of said conventional telephone sets for receiving said ringing control information from said central control unit, wherein said means associated with said contact means includes gating means, and wherein said ringing control information receiving means is connected to said gating means.
5. In an electronic key telephone system, the combination according to claim 4 wherein said gating means includes first and second gating means, wherein said means for delaying said transmitting includes timing circuit means for generating a signal having said predetermined interval, wherein said ringing control information receiving means is directly connected to said first gating means, and wherein said timing circuit means is directly connected to said second gating means.
6. In an electronic key telephone system, the combination according to claim 4 further including a source of ringing signals and a ringing relay controlled by said ringing control information receiving means for operating said ringing relay to connect said ringing signals to said speech path.
7. In an electronic key telephone system, the combination according to claim 6 further including means controlled by said means for delaying for directly releasing said ringing relay.
