CONSTITUTION: An industrial robot 1 has its substantial working position instructed beforehand. In this robot 1, a dummy pallet 51 is discriminated by a pallet- discrimination sensor and the deviation between the working axis of the robot 1 and a mark 52 indicating the working position for the dummy pallet is detected with use of an industrial television camera 2 mounted at a fore end portion of the robot 1. And the deviation between the working center and the mark 52 is calculated through processing of this deviation by a correction amount calculation device 62, whereby the robot 1 is moved through performance of a robot correction operation to correct the instructed position. In this way, the instruction accuracy does not depend upon an instructing operator's skill and, in a case where deviation takes place between the working position and the instructed position due to a bimetal effect resulting from a change in temperature after instruction, the working position can be corrected without re-instructing the working position.
