CONSTITUTION: A light absorbing coating 9 is provided in the outside of the vertex part 7 of a container 1 having an exhaust tube seal 8. This coating contains magnetite, manganese dioxide, carbonyl iron and titanium dioxide as colorant and these are contained in a binder containing silicon. The vertex part 7 of the lamp container 1 is dipped in such mixture, then dried, the container having the executed coating 7 is heated in a drying furnace and subjected to heat treatment by connecting the lamp to a 12V power source and operating the lamp. Then, the black-colored vertex part 7 is heated by a ring burner having oxide flames. During this heat treatment, ethyl silicate is converted into silicon dioxide, carbonyl iron is converted into iron oxide and burned and the coating is firmly fixed to the container.
