An audio-visual teaching system and student response apparatus comprising: a. a display screen means capable of receiving and displaying a first image; b. an electrically energized spatial response signal generator disposed to operate in close registration with said display screen means capable of generating electrical signals defining the X and Y coordinates of positions thereon; c. probe means for use by the instructor or a student coating with said signal generator whereby the coordinates of probe position relative to the generator are determined and signals representative thereof are generated; d. recording/playback means for use with said image display means for storing/presenting predetermined lesson signals and X - Y coordinate information signals representative of answer positions on said response signal generator; and e. comparator means for comparing the X - Y coordinate answer position information from said playback means with that from said probe means.
2. An audio-visual teaching system and student response apparatus comprising: a. a display screen means capable of receiving and displaying a first image; b. an electrically energized spatial response signal generator disposed to operate in close registration with said display screen means capable of generating electrical signals defining the X and Y coordinates of positions thereon; c. probe means for use by the instructor or a student coacting with said signal generator whereby the coordinates of probe position relative to the generator are determined and signals representative thereof are generated; d. recording/playback means for use with said image display means for storing/presenting X-Y coordinate information signals representative of answer positions on said response signal generator; and e. comparator means for comparing the X-Y coordinate answer position information from said playback means with that from said probe means.
3. An audio-visual teaching system and student response apparatus comprising: a. a first display screen means for receiving and displaying a first image; b. a second image display means disposed in close registration with said first screen means and effective to present the effect of having a visual, dynamic linear image superimposed on said first image; c. an electrically energized spatial response signal generator overlying said first display screen means and electrically interconnected with said second image display means for generating said visual, dynamic linear image; d. recording/playback means electrically interconnected with said second image display means for storing/displaying in analog form predetermined lesson signals and signals generated by said generator; and e. comparator means for comparing the lesson signals with the signals from said generator whereby the correctness of the generated signals is determined.
4. The system as defined in claim 3 wherein said second image display means comprises an electrostatic storage tube.
5. The system as defined in claim 3 wherein said second image display means has a controllable powder scraping member.
6. The system as defined in claim 3 wherein said means (e) consists of a pluRality of members to compare electrical signals and in turn controls supplemental signal generating means.
