The control circuit 20 calculates in a detecting circuit 21 a gain of AGC circuit using a variation of the reference signal inserted in the reference signal inserting circuit 19 in the duration of blanking, and inputs in an arithmetic processing section 22 the gain in conjunction with an output signal of the A/D converter circuit 13. Based on these two data units, CPU18 makes the arithmetic processing section 22 carry out a predetermined processing to make the camera generate an iris control signal S1.
