The charge transfer complex 3 is formed by developing the TCNQ expressed by formula III and attached with an alkyl chain R of 18 C and the molecules expressed by formula (I), (II) as complex on a water surface and forming the same as the LB film on the ITO film 2 surface. The thin ZnS film 4 and thin ITO film 5 are formed by an ion plating method thereon, by which the device is constituted. This device is colored to reddish pink, but is switched colorless when a voltage is impressed to the terminals 6, 7. Said state is stored and the colored state is restored by a short circuit. The fast response speed is thereby obtd.
