5 do similarly) in a mixed solvent of water and a polar organic solvent, e.g., a water-acetone mixed solvent in the presence of a base, e.g., NaOH at -10W50°C to give the desired compound shown by the formula III. A mixing ratio of water to the organic solvent is 1:10W10:1.
USE: An intermediate for preparing an uns-2,4-bisphenoxypyrimidine compound available as fungicides for agriculture and gardening.
