Some may also exhibit plant growth regulant activity. The compounds (I) and (IA) can be formulated for use in conventional manner. The compounds (I) can be made inter alia by reacting an isocyanate or isothiocyanate of general formula with an amine HNR R m . The compounds (I) can be converted into compounds (IA) by reacting an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt thereof with an appropriate halide BI or BBr. The novel intermediates (IB) also form part of the invention.
