摘要 A wig construction in which the forwardly disposed portions of the hair strands may be parted at a desired laterally disposed location to give the appearance of the scalp of the wearer at the parting line. The wig includes a rearwardly extending foundation element of conventional netted textile construction defining a forward edge, and a laminated substrate element interconnected to said forward edge at a rearward edge thereof, and including an upper lamina of colored synthetic resinous material to which hair strands are tufted, and a lower lamina of relatively stiff textile netting interconnected to said upper lamina at at least the peripheral edges thereof to stiffen the same and conform it to the head of the wearer. Integrated flexible boning communicates with a forward edge of said substrate element to prevent said edge from curling.

1. Wig construction comprising: a foundation element, a substrate element, and a plurality of hair strands covering said foundation and substrate elements; said foundation element having a netted textile material and adapted to cover the medial and rearward portion of the head of a wearer, and defining a forwardly positioned edge; said substrate element including plural layers, interconnected to said forwardly positioned edge at a rearward edge thereof, and including a first upper lamina of relatively thin flexible colored synthetic resinous material, and a lower lamina of relatively stiff netting, that portion of said hair strands covering said substrate element being interconnected thereto by tufting through only the upper lamina, said upper and lower laminae being substantially congruent, and interconnected to each other substantially only at the peripheral edges thereof, so that said upper lamina may be maintained in air spaced relation relative to said lower lamina when said construction is worn to afford ventilation to the scalp of a wearer.
