41 | Hairdresser's glove | US621613 | 1984-06-18 | US4766914A | 1988-08-30 | Blanca F. Briggs |
A hairdresser's glove having elongated, flexible and resilient, relatively widely spaced comb teeth on the front of the fingers. Each comb tooth has a length of at least one-half the front-to-back dimension of the glove finger or thumb to which it is attached when it is open to receive the respective digit. In addition to the comb teeth, the glove may optionally have provisions for discharging air into the hair at different locations along the fingers and thumb of the glove.
42 | Appliance carrier and storage device | US595057 | 1984-03-30 | US4563033A | 1986-01-07 | Richard W. Schmutzler |
A device for carrying and storing pistol shaped appliances such as an air chisel, an electric hand drill, a soldering gun or an electric hair dryer. The appliance is held or clamped to a rigid planar structural member, with the grip and barrel axes oriented substantially parallel to the structural member. The device is carried and stored with the plane of the structural member generally vertical. A reel means can be provided, by a plurality of projections from the structural member near it's periphery for receiving the electric cord or air hose of the pistol shaped appliance as it is wound. The structural member can contain a hand hole for carrying or positioning over a cantilevered support when storing against a generally vertical surface. Projections can be added to the structural member for carrying accessories or retaining the end of the electric cord or air hose.
43 | Self supporting stand for hand held hair drier | US65639 | 1979-08-10 | US4278223A | 1981-07-14 | Denis J. Fauteux |
This invention consists of combining a vertical stand with a standard hand held hair drier to convert the hand drier into a self supporting one. The stand is made into telescopic components for height adjustment; and the drier is attached to the stand, at its top, swivably, so that it can be adjusted to any required angle. The drier to stand attachment consists of a bow-shaped yoke with a bolt in each of its upright arms. The bolts are aligned to meet in the center of the yoke, and the end of each bolt is equipped with a curved plate which is free to rotate. The hand drier is clamped between the said curved plates at any required angle. The required friction between the telescopic components of the stand is provided by springs in compression contained in the inner component, pressing against the inner wall of the outer component.
44 | Protective arrangement for beauty salon patron | US859121 | 1977-12-09 | US4133052A | 1979-01-09 | Elizabeth L. Hodgman; Robert O. Hodgman |
The present protective arrangement for a beauty salon patron has a flexible, heat-resistant and moisture-resistant cape with a trough at its lower end which is detachable so that the cape may be held up against the bottom of the hair dryer hood at the back of the wearer's head by an elastic cord. This protective arrangement also has a heat-resistant and moisture-resistant head band which substantially covers the wearer's forehead and has ear flaps to cover the ears, and a transparent visor to cover the nose and eyes.
45 | Steam generating device | US729898 | 1976-10-06 | US4078525A | 1978-03-14 | Minoru Chiba |
A steam generating device comprising a metallic evaporation body of desired shape, such as a dish-like shape, a cylindrical shape and so on; and a thin layer provided on the surface of the body, the layer having a rough surface and a water absorption ability. In use, the device is heated and, then, a little water is intermittently supplied on the thin layer, so that the water is instantaneously evaporated.
46 | Hair shaping apparatus | US43459974 | 1974-01-18 | US3908673A | 1975-09-30 | CARR URIAH H |
A hair shaping apparatus comprised of sectionalized helmetshaped mold receivable about the head of a user in full contact with the body of hair having an inner surface corresponding to a selected coiffure wished to be imparted to the hair of the user, an adjustable heating element imbedded within the helmet, and a plurality of ventilating perforations, whereby the hair of a user will accept and retain the inner contour of the helmet after a moistening agent applied to the hair is evaporated through the plurality of perforations as a result of the increased temperature within the helmet created by the heating element.

47 | Hair drying apparatus and method | US42055473 | 1973-11-30 | US3902508A | 1975-09-02 | SLIMAN SR MICHAEL T |
Sections of wet hair on the head are rolled within, around or onto a form or roller which carries an adsorbent element, package or mass, either in a preheated or cool state. The adsorbent may be in the form of molecular sieves or may be a desiccant such as silica gel. In any case, a regenerative adsorbent is employed. Adsorption of moisture from the hair takes place rapidly through intimate contact of the hair with the foraminous wall of the adsorbent container. The hair may be dried in much less time than is required with conventional methods and damage to the hair due to blown hot air is avoided. The invention offers a natural and gentle drying process which is very rapid accompanied by some degree of hair waving.

48 | Apparatus for styling hair | US3713453D | 1971-04-05 | US3713453A | 1973-01-30 | CHIARO J; CHIARO S |
An apparatus for styling hair has a wall-mounted base and a equipoised arm assembly including first and second interconnected parallelogram linkages. At one end of the arm assembly, is a journal which fits into a journal bore in the base, to enable the arm assembly to swivel horizontally. A lamp-supporting device which carries a lamp head is disposed on the other end of the arm assembly and is movable in a variety of directions. A bulb in the socket of the lamp head is capable of emitting at least 300 watts, the precise value of which is controlled by a variable power source. A handle is attached to the lamp head to enable a user selectively to move the lamp head as needed. The apparatus is used in the styling of hair which has first been washed and then partially dried. The lamp is used successively to heat limited areas of the hair for drying the same and at the same time cutting and combing the hair in each particular area in accordance with its natural growth pattern.
