A HYDROCARBAZOLENINE HAVING THE FORMULA: WHEREIN R IS FROM ZERO TO THREE RADICALS SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF HYDROXY, LOWER-HYDROCARBONOXY, HALOGEN, LOWER-ALKYL, NITRO, AMINO, AND ACYLAMIDE GROUPS IN WHICH ACYL IS THE ACYL GROUP OF A LOWER-HYDROCARBON CARBOXYLIC ACID; X IS A 3 TO 5 ATOM SATURATED MONOAZAHYDROCARBON STRAIGHT CHAIN; R1 IS AN N-SUBSTITUENT SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF HYDROGEN, A LOWERALKYL GROUP, AND A LOWER-ACYL GROUP IN WHICH ACYL IS THE ACYL RADICAL OF A LOWER-HYDROCARBON CARBOXYLIC ACID; R2 IS A C-SUBSTITUENT SELECTED FROM TE GROUP CONSISTING OF HYDROGEN AND LOWER-ALKYL, CARBOXY, AND LOWER-CARBALKOXY GROUPS; AND R3 IS SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF HYDROGEN, LOWER-CARBOXYALKYL GROUP, A CARBOXY GROUP, A LOWER-CARBALKOXY GROUP, AN OXO GROUP, AND A 2 TO 3 CARBON ATOM KETALIZED-OXO GROUP.
