In this case, a part of gas flows upward in the bypass conduit 22, and is merged in main gas after cooling 23. These circulations of gas are conducted forcibly by a main blower, however, at an accident of the main blower by any change, gas leads to autoconvection by a heat of the pile 4, and gas stood still in the conduit 22 also flows from the upper part to the lower part of the conduit 22 through the agency of suction operation of main gas, and is merged at gas introduction parts 10, 11 in main gas to then come in the reactor core 2. Heated gas flows again from the gas outlets 12, 13 to the conduit 22, however, the gas flown at about, 1,000°C is cooled 23 to form a downward natural convection source at the conduit 22, and contributes to preheat discharge operation greatly.
