CONSTITUTION: A sent signal light 202 is inputted to a loopback spectrum generating repeater 2, the signal light sent in the repeater 2 is amplified by a linear amplifier 9 and inputted to a semiconductor optical amplifier 10 being an optical nonlinear element. A loopback spectrum 100 is generated by the 4-light mixture effect in an amplifier 10. A signal light 203 including the spectrum of a transmission source 20, an output spectrum of a transmission source 21 and the loopback spectrum 100 is amplified by a linear optical amplifier 11 and inputted to an optical fiber 12. An optical receiver 3 extracts only the loopback spectrum 100 from the sent signal light by using an optical filter 16 and receives the loopback spectrum 100 by using a photodetector 21. Thus, the optical communication equipment is realized, in which the effect of the diffusion of the optical fiber is hardly caused or is compensated.
