CONSTITUTION: The annular groove 11 is provided on a flat surface 10 and the communicating passage 12 opens one end thereof in the annular groove 11 and the other end thereof at the lower part of the oil film chamber 6 respectively. When a rotary shaft 2 is rotated, oil is bitten into a clearance 5 due to the function of screw grooves 3 and the pressure of the oil film chamber 6 becomes high. This pressure is propagated to a clearance 8 between the horizontal surface 9 and the flat surface 10 through the communicating passage 12 and the annular groove 11 and pushes up a floating board 7 to form an oil film. A vibration absorbing function is provided by utilizing the shear resisting force of this oil film section. The pressure in the oil film chamber 6 is determined substantially by the thrust load of the bearing 4, therefore, a force to push up the floating board 7 is constant substantially. Accordingly, the thickness of the oil film formed in the clearance 8 becomes constant substantially thereby stabilizing the damping characteristics of the bearing.
