CONSTITUTION: An image information developed by a TV camera 11 is stored for the being in an image storing unit 12. At this moment in case of binocular stereo-vision, two images developed from different positions simultaneously are stored and in case of moving camera 11, two images developed at different times are stored. And, an arithmetic operation unit 10 consist of pre-processing unit 13, corresponding point deciding unit 14 and 3-dimension distance calculating unit 15 and the processing unit 13 calls out an image information from an image storing unit 12 and flattens it and calculates changing amount (differential value,) etc. of luminance for transmitting the result to the deciding unit 14. Each relation of correspondence of each image is calculated using data received here. This calculation result is transmitted to an arithmetic operation unit 15 for calculation of position. Thus, the degree of similarity is obtained from feature quantities inherent to both images and the pair of corresponding points is determined from the table data corresponding to this.
