CONSTITUTION: A detection circuit 1 detects an idle pattern in a reception data and generates a detection pulse 12. A distance measuring circuit 2 measures the interval of generation of pulses 12 and compares it with a setting value to generate normal and abnormal pulses 13, 14. Then counters 3, 4 count the pulses 13, 14 and generates a synchronizing pulse 15 and an asynchronizing pulse 16 when the count reaches a prescribed number, the pulses 15, 16 are given to the counters 4, 3, which are reset with each other. An FF circuit 5 uses the pulses 15, 16 to set an output 17 into the synchronizing or the asynchronizing state. Thus, the production of error of synchronization discrimination is reduced by discriminating whether the distance between idle patterns is normal or not based on number of produced patterns.
