US08613309B1 Pipe handling apparatus and method
When inserting a tube into a borehole in the ground for extracting minerals, tube parts are successively added to the proximal end of the tube while the tube reaches into the borehole. Thereafter, the tube is inserted further into the borehole. As the addition of the tube part is carried out by welding, each time an eminently sealing and slender joint between the tube parts is obtained. As the tube parts are successively added to the tube only when this is necessary for inserting the tube further into the ground, winding up the tube to store it prior to insertion is not necessary and the use of a tube-carrying reel which is difficult to handle is thus rendered redundant. Further, an installation for carrying out the proposed method is described.

Switching is carried out between lean control and rich control at the same time when an output from a post-catalyst sensor reaches a threshold. Whether the catalyst is normal or abnormal is determined based on the rate of a change in the output from the post-catalyst sensor between a first point of time when a pre-catalyst air-fuel ratio reaches stoichiometry after the output from the post-catalyst sensor reaches the threshold and a second point of time when the output from the post-catalyst sensor reaches the threshold next time.
US08613218B2 Diagnosis apparatus for leakage mechanism in internal combustion engine
After an engine stop duration exceeds a predetermined time period (that is, if a decision outcome of S100 is positive), diagnosis of a leakage mechanism, which is a relief valve, for diagnosing the presence/absence of an abnormality is not performed during a current engine stop (S102). Therefore, even if the fuel pressure in the high-pressure fuel system is reduced to a low-pressure level due to temperature decrease as though fuel has been leaked in a state in which high-pressure fuel in a high-pressure fuel system cannot be leaked due to an abnormality in the relief valve, it generally occurs after the predetermined time period since such a decrease to a low-pressure level due to the temperature decrease is slow. Thus, an erroneous diagnosis as being normal is prevented from being made since the diagnosis has been suspended when the fuel pressure becomes equal to the low-pressure level.

Next, after use, the wear position of the presetting device is measured in the same manner, to bring the press elements into a position with the degree of pressing. A message is output when the degree of the wear position deviates from the degree of the reference position by more than the degree of wear permissible.

In the step of cooling after the chemical strengthening step, cooling treatment is carried out in which the glass substrate is brought into contact with a treatment liquid containing a melt of a material having a solidification temperature below that of a chemical strengthening salt. The temperature of the treatment liquid is regulated to be below the temperature of the chemical strengthening salt melted liquid in the chemical strengthening step.
